Then they have no business getting behind a wheel. If he/she can't swerve and avoid a stationary object on a clear road with at least 3 lanes at 1am, how are they going to to avoid a sudden animal or hazard that appears behind an obstruction. Defensive driving is a very important skill. Panic is not a valid reason when your vehicle carries the potential of inflicting serious danger to the occupants and pedestrians.Ghostwriter wrote: ↑Sun Mar 20, 2022 3:07 pm Well a moment of panic from the driver would be understandable to be honest, it's not like they are used to people impersonating speed bumpers in a weird hide and seek act.

If he came out of Love-club after drinking a bottle of whiskey and smoked some wheat i am pretty sure he had no idea what happened, probably not a khmer guy but from an other pretty big asian country !!

What is the world turning into when a hard working man can't lay down on the road for a good sleep without getting hit by some arrogant car driver thinking they own the place.

Panic is not a valid reason indeed, because it's not reason.ofparadise wrote: ↑Sun Mar 20, 2022 3:13 pmThen they have no business getting behind a wheel. The amount of crazy shit one has to anticipate behind a wheel is staggering in Kow.

You and I may use defensive driving to protect our space, and that of our wellbeing. But most other road users use only aggression without skill in their driving and riding. Unfortunately, the trait only shows that their nature is deep routed, and that of plain selfishness towards other people.ofparadise wrote: ↑Sun Mar 20, 2022 3:13 pmThen they have no business getting behind a wheel. Always "hope" but never "expect".

Let’s recap here.ofparadise wrote: ↑Sun Mar 20, 2022 3:06 pmWhen you see a man lying on the road, and you gun the pedal in his direction, there is clear intent.John Bingham wrote: ↑Sun Mar 20, 2022 3:05 pmIt's a fast stretch just south of the monument. Murder has to be premeditated, so how does this qualify?ofparadise wrote: ↑Sun Mar 20, 2022 3:00 pm That's a multi lane road. Plenty of opportunity to shift lanes before running the guy over.
This is a murder. Not a hit and run.
At the least, it's manslaughter.
The car was heading south and the report said he was going fast.
Given the time he was likely drunk or had had a drink so his reactions and awareness would have been impaired. Couple this with the inherently poor driving skills in this part of the world it would not be far off to suggest he actually never saw the guy laying in the road till he ran over him. He may have assumed it was a dog tbh. There is no indication he “hit the gas” and targeted the man in a callous act of vehicular homicide.

Only a fucking idiot,or a suicide case lies down on norodom late at night. How the hell is the driver supposed to see him, whilst taking a selfie AND with one eye closed,AND popping a zit?
Re: Foreign Man Lying on Phnom Penh Street gets Run Over
What's the world coming to when you can't drive home stoned and pissed at 1am without some drunk lying across the road getting in your way. He'd be safer sleeping on the train tracks.
I'm standing up, so I must be straight.
