Cambodia News (Kompong Speu Province): On March 8, 2022, at a baby shower party in Krang Trea village, Preah Nipean commune, Korng Pisey district, Kompong Speu province, a 35-year-old ignorant drunk man called Phai Panha was showing off his handgun when he accidentally shot a 33-year-old man name Uch Phearun dead.

Both men are from Kopong Toul village, Anglong Romeat commune, Kandal Steung district, Kandal province. The suspect was detained by police for further investigation, and the body of the victim was given to his family for the funeral rites.

Never liked baby showers, it's essentially asking for someone to get shot.. accidentally.. by a random drunk.

Newborn baby celebration ends in tragedy with father shot dead

A farmer who held a celebration for his newborn baby was shot dead accidentally by an invited guest who was drunk during the party in Kampong Speu province’s Kong Pisey district.

The man who was drunk took out his gun accidentally shot the farmer in the neck and on realising what he had done, he rushed the victim to the hospital but he succumbed to the gunshot wound.

Colonel Khim Sophannara, Kong Pisey district police chief, said the incident took place at the victim’s house in the district at about 11.25pm.

He identified the suspect as Phay Panha, 35, who lives in Kandal province’s Kandal Stung district.

Prior to the incident, Col Sophannara said Panha was having his alcoholic drinks with the victim who was celebrating the birth of his newborn baby.

While having drinks, he added, Panha was playing with his pistol and playfully pointed to the victim’s neck when he accidentally pulled the trigger.

I know I made a joke about it but this is actually so sad. Because of some effing drunk with a gun, the baby will never know its father.

Is it that easy to get a gun in this country?

Probably worked for one of those special places that supply a gun as part of you job. Note ,, no mention of what the guy was employed as and by whom.
