Pies

Discussions about restaurants, cafes, coffee shops or bars in Cambodia. Feel free to write any reviews you have, whether its the best burger you've had in Phnom Penh or the worse pizza in Kampot, we want to read it! Discussions about Khmer dishes are also in here, or you can leave your own. If you own a restaurant, feel free to let the expat community know about it here so that we can come check it out. Found a favorite cafe or have a place we should avoid? Tell us about it. Asian recipes & questions are always welcome.

Can you buy gluten free flour?

Does pork or butter contain gluten?

and proper vintage cheddar.

Fish and Chips (in the shop, not ruined by wrapping in paper and a plastic bag);

Back bacon, sausages and black pudding;

Draught Guinness (extra cold)

Sausage rolls and Cornish pasties from Greggs.

I am going to the UK in June so I have been giving this subject some serious thought.
Good shout, fish n chips is a must. The cheapest Cantonese owned place near me is the best, the fancy ones just miss the point.

The best chips are always from Chinese food places because they use good quality oil and change it regularly.

No, only flour contains gluten but apparently gluten free flour isn't great for making the puff pastry.

Even ordinary puff pastry is very difficult to work with here unless you have a chilled room. Pies with shortcrust pastry can be okay too.

Very difficult indeed, butter gets way too soft, I used to just make a rough puff due to that fact, but now I cheat and just buy the frozen puff pastry sheets.

I think everyone does or puff and normal, which is ok.
