Sihanoukville Meat Company Bounces $1.3 of Cheques

Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): The SLN Meat Supplies Pty Ltd., located in Prek Tal village, Teuk Thla commune, Prey Nup district, Sihanoukville, was accused of issuing four fake cheques totaling 1.3 million USD.
The owners of the butcher company, Ho Simleang called Korng, and Ang Ly Eng, who have been in debt since 2016 and were declared bankrupt, only delivered approximately 200k worth of cow skins to the victim who paid 1.3 million USD upfront. Since then, the 61-year-old female victim, Vat Vuy, has been chasing the company for a refund.

The first 300k USD refund cheque issued on October 15, 2019, was invalid. The second cheque of 500k USD issued on November 15, 2019, was also invalid. On November 30, 2019, the third cheque of 500k USD was also invalid, and the last cheque of 500k USD issued on July 8, 2021, was invalid also. The victim kept falling for the lies and excuses from the suspects, and for all this time she never reported them to the police in the hope of resolving the debt privately.

However, according to a former worker at the butcher factory, the company owners are completely broke and they have so many debts that they can not possibly repay them unless they sell the factory and the land.

They could avoid all this by just carrying around giant suitcases of cash.

Questions to ponder:

1). Who would pay $1.3M in advance for anything? Not even to my mother.
2). Who would accept unverified personal checks for $1.3M. Wire transfer? Bank certified check? Not even from my mother.

I have had customers insist on going to the bank with me to verify an amount 1/10 of this.

There has to be much more to this story.
