Fake News, Propaganda, and Statistics.
AKA "Lies, Damn Lies, and Statistics" popularized by Mark Twain.
The other discussion "Do you support Ukraine or Russia?" has begged the question of where do you get your news and do you see much "Fake News" or "Propaganda" in your news sources? I know, I know, EVERY news outlet has a slant to it, but some are more obvious than others.
Those of you in Cambodia that speak Khmer, I understand that most TV/radio are operated or owned by family/friends of the "honorable" HE, Do you see/hear obvious slant or propoganda in the news reporting there?
I'm also wondering how the news is being reported in Russia at the present time? I have a friend (American) living in Moscow right now, but have NOT asked him in our emails, Keep ALL politics about Russia out of discussions as not to have him targeted. (His wife is Russian).
PET PEEVE OF DAY (related to subject).
News reports that overlay music into the story. Tugging at heartstrings (emotions) while telling a story, I throw any "news" story that does this out with the trash. Cmon Man (Joe Biden voice) we are watching for NEWS not a Sally Struthers feed the children commerical. I've noticed lately CBS news (US) has become real bad at doing this lately....
example.
https://www.cbsnews.com/news/transgende ... -invasion/
Another PEEVE,
Reporting on surveys without the survey questions..... Me thinks that any survey can be slanted by what the question is and how it is asked..... soooo If I don't see the original question in the report, I discount (toss) the report.
What say you all on this?

Re: Fake News, Propaganda, and Statistics.
seems like the only people foaming at the mouth for war is the west? I honestly haven't seen a single video of an aggressive Russian (a lot of scared confused kids), and what seems to be normal people from around the world hysterically chanting for the total death and misery of ALL Russian people
Re: Fake News, Propaganda, and Statistics.
Are you telling me I have been misled and the Ukraine' fascist Nazi regime invaded Russia?Jlucas wrote: ↑Thu Mar 03, 2022 7:59 am

Sounds like you're getting your news from television and videos (talking heads), which is of course, manipulated as a "show". BIG MISTAKE...Kampuchia Crumbs wrote: ↑Thu Mar 03, 2022 5:48 am AKA "Lies, Damn Lies, and Statistics" popularized by Mark Twain.

If you're interested in what the humans are doing, then you should be READING the NEWS. Not perfect but has more details and facts.
As for Russian news, there's:
https://www.rt.com
https://sputniknews.com
https://english.pravda.ru
Obviously aimed at an international audience rather the locals but offer a different perspective.
