England has ended all COVID restrictions

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

England has ended all COVID restrictions

Post by Cambo Dear »

From today, there is no longer a legal obligation to self-isolate if you have symptoms of COVID. Mask wearing has all but disappeared and hasn't been mandatory for a while. Other countries in Europe are heading towards similar measure - phew!

Hopefully this will be a thing of the past sooner, rather than later.

About 12 months later than my (very optimistic) prediction from late 2020

Thank fuck for that, hopefully the rest of the world follows suit

Sounds suspiciously like what they called "Freedom Day" last year all over again. Which makes me wonder, how many more rounds will it take? I'd hope NONE, but who knows!

My theory:

COVID was an accidental lab-leak. It did not come from natural origins and was genetically modified during gain of function research.

With that in mind, I'm also starting to wonder if Omicron was also a manufactured virus, but this time, deliberately released to act as a 'natural' vaccine to combat the COVID pandemic. If they can engineer a virus which caused the havoc COVID did, surely they can manufacture one that will eradicate the original virus and, to some extent, counteract the effects of the original COVID, an antidote if you will, which is exactly what Omicron has done.

Just my theory.

There will be no backpedalling from this - there was no lockdown for Omicron and the Govt. will start charging for Lat Flo tests from April. Travel still requires 2 doses I believe, but again they will only be offered to specific groups going forward. This will be the end of the COVID epidemic in England - Wales, Scotland and N.Ireland (all of whose Govts. did lockdown for Omicron) are positioning to follow suit.

I sincerely hope this sense of rational thought now sweeps the world.

Excellent! Some people really bought into the whole constant fear thing, so this is a great wake-up call to just live life.

What about SARS and MERS. Why wasn’t there all this conspiracy nonsense with them?
