Former Duke Duong Ngiep Trial Adjourned Due to Absence of Accused
Image
Cambodia News, Phnom Penh: The Trial Chamber of the Phnom Penh Municipal Court this morning, August 30, 2022, decided to postpone the trial of the former three-star officer and oknha, Duong Ngiep, in the absence of the accused and the defense lawyer for the accused.
Mr. Sok Tith, Deputy Director of PJ Prison, reported to the court that the accused and his lawyer had applied for an adjournment, and therefore refused to appear in court at the present date.

Mr. Seng Heang, Deputy Prosecutor and Representative of the Prosecution in this case, stated during the hearing that the court had issued an order to the prison to bring the accused to appear in accordance with the procedure, but the custodians did not follow the order.
Therefore, in this case, the court decided to postpone the hearing to September 6, 2022, when the prison must bring the accused to court.
Duong Ngiep is being sued by Taiwanese nationals, CHIH YUEN and YAO CHING KING, in a case of alleged land fraud, document forgery and false bank checks.

It is alleged that in an attempt to resolve the land sale dispute with the Taiwanese, Mr. Duong Ngiep issued three checks in USD, with the number 145577 worth US$ 1,650,000, the number 213997 worth $ 3,655,000, and the number 132788 worth $2,000,000, (more than a total sum of US$7M), to the injured parties, who then took the checks to pay the bank, but the bank confirmed that there was no money in the account. Duong Ngiep was therefore sued by the plaintiffs and taken into custody.
To be continued.

Court says drop all charges against Duke Duong Ngiep and release him from JP Prison !!
October 25, 2022
Cambodia News, (Phnom Penh): The Phnom Penh Municipal Court on the morning of October 24, 2022, announced the verdict in absentia on the criminal case of Duke Duong Ngiep in connection with alleged crimes of forgery and embezzlement between 2018 and 2020.

The Phnom Penh Municipal Court decided to drop all charges against Duong Ngiep because he was not guilty.

According to court documents, in this criminal case, Duke Duong Ngiep was arrested and remanded in custody at JP Prison on 14 February 2022 in connection with alleged crimes involving fake documents, fraudulent cheques, and a multi-million dollar property fraud committed between 2018 and 2020. The 3-Star general was arrested after two Taiwanese investors filed a complaint and sued him for embezzling US$7M in a real estate deal.

Duke Duong Ngiep was first held in the new luxury JP Prison for VIP prisoners, and was later released on bail on October 14, 2022.

Duke Duong Ngiep is a former senior police officer with the rank of Lieutenant General (3 stars), and he is also a well-known real estate investor in the Kingdom of Cambodia.
It should be reminded that during the trial last September, Mr. Duong Ngiep strongly denied the above accusations against him, saying:
He did not know or do anything like the accusations against him.
