(As a test - not sure whether welcome - my person suggests a lable "Anumodana", meaning "invitation to rejoice with good deeds and benefical achievements of others and appreciation of such". Of course such would only merit in regard of actually participate in sympathic joy and praise, to gain same or even higher merits. So good that, if thinking deserves blame, or simply not so good preoccupied, to use new or other topic on it.)

Yes, this is cause to celebrate.

Often told on this site is the story of how he put together an army of 1700 men, in order to save the nation of Cambodia. He had no money for boots and uniforms so he had
to go to Vietnam for help. It was a war zone so if he had a gun they would shoot.
Maybe they would shoot him anyway but he put the gun down and went with courage.
He got the uniforms, put together an army, and saved Cambodia for Cambodians.

Actually it's because not use war to gain peace, but by an old saying by the Sublime Buddha, that there was, in addition to personal merits, and is, most astonishing success:

Dhammapada

'He insulted me,
hit me,
beat me,
robbed me'
— for those who brood on this,
hostility isn't stilled.

'He insulted me,
hit me,
beat me,
robbed me' —
for those who don't brood on this,
hostility is stilled.

Hostilities aren't stilled
through hostility,
regardless.
Hostilities are stilled
through non-hostility:
this, an unending truth.

Unlike those who don't realize
that we're here on the verge
of perishing,
those who do:
their quarrels are stilled.

And the beloved Pali 'slogan' (which is of course meant for peace beyond): "N'atthi santi param sukham", 'No happiness as that of peace".

Well, it was long ago, before your time.
He did not use war to gain peace.
He used war to gain survival.

So he knows war, and is the one qualified to work for peace.

Sure, good householder, as it's not possible to grow wise if not knowing suffering. It was said in regard of the leaders honor he received.
