Valentine's Day,what's in it for men?

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

I’m no relationship expert, but reading has informed me that the key to a successful marriage / relationship is to give. If both parties give, both get.
Then there is the complication of understanding what your partner values, so you give in the way that is most appreciated. For some, that’s material things, for others it’s time, assistance, thoughtful gestures, taking the rubbish out, etc.

Maybe you give on V day and your partner gives on other (every other) days.

Of course, there is the added complication that V day is a commercialised American construct that spread throughout the world. Just set the expectation early that you will not be part of the commercialisation and the peer pressure. Instead, you give appreciation on a regular basis.
Giving is trap for most men, at least for me. I tend to give something I like to give instead of something she likes to be given.

unless you own a hallmark card store or are a florist.
Then why does the Prime Minister call on the young girls in his country every year not to fall for the seduction of flowers, chocolate and sweet words and reciprocate in a Guest House

It's that disgusting foreign influence which keeps impacting on the pure and traditional local mores. :D

What? Don't other women give Valentine's gifts when they are in a relationship?
I can't imagine being so selfish.
Once you've read the dictionary, every other book is just a remix.

Yes, exactly. Then over the years we figured it out, she tells me exactly what she wants, sometimes even ordering it herself, On Valentines Day I give it to her, sometimes with a little something extra. She posts on FB what a wonderful husband I am. Everybody is happy.
I wish I knew a whole lot more, or a whole lot less.

A woman will always give her man gifts.

How to tell if she's worth keeping, is if she still does it when no one else but him is around.

(same goes for men by the way)
