Cambodia News (Pailin Province): At 11:00 am on February 6, 2022, a body of a rotting dead man was found by the Steung Trong police in O'Kantheangva village, Stung Trang commune, Sala Krao district, Pailin province. The victim wasidentified by the authorities as Pen Sokkhorn, a 45 year old resident of Tumnup village.

The police investigation quickly cast suspicion on the victim's ex-wife, Chheum Chhorn, a 42-year-old woman, and her new husband, Kheiv Panha called Ka'at, a 31-year-old man. The couple were called in for questioning, and both the suspects admitted that they had planned the murder of the woman's ex-husband.

According to their confession, at 7:00 pm on January 13, 2022, the suspects arranged the murder by giving the victim a drink made from a mixture of alcohol and chemical weed-killer. After the victim was poisoned and lost consciousness, they dumped his body 400m behind their house. However, while they were dumping the victim, they noticed that he was still alive, so they finished him off by beating him over the head with a stick.
The killer couple are being held in custody awaiting trial.
