Re: Margarine did I miss something?
Lucky seems to have both the worst stock control and the worst range. Need more competition in PP. Super Duper are glorified minimarts. Foodworks is supposedly opening a store in Toul Kork soon, maybe they'll do better. I understand they also own S Liquor.

Super Duper are glorified minimarts. Maybe so but kudos to the owner they are very well run and generally well stocked its my choice of store in PP and generally their prices are decent especially knowing what their rental and power overheads must be

Saviour!
The Bundaberg stuff is available in the UK, too. I’ll take a look when I’m back in town.
Puts me in mind of how lacking such essentials can be torture. I used to take an empty suitcase on transatlantic runs, and fill it with bottles of Rootbeer. The rest of the crew thought I was mad- they didn’t like root beer.
Re: Margarine did I miss something?
Just picked up some bottles myself and some ginger beer Bundaberg also have a great thirst quenching passionfruit flavor also, Super Duper almost always have the range.
One thing I've been unable to find is dark Marsala wine great for cooking in.
Should have bought some from Thailand before all this Covid crap happened, they have it there in foodland

Sorry I sold them short there. They do have a good range, but they could be great if they had proper supermarket sized stores.
One thing I like about Lucky OTOH is their specials. Cat/dog food is regularly BOGOF. And there's always half price chicken and salmon at the start of the day.

That’s terrible! Surely there’s something in Khmer cuisine that you like?timmydownawell wrote: ↑Mon Feb 07, 2022 3:57 pm

Re: Margarine did I miss something?
Yes the 50% specials can be a good deal the lucky near Central market often has 50% off Aussie steaks which are still fine, I don't see them in their other stores but the 50% mince and stewing bones etc is often better then the tinned dog food for value for Rex the dog. Do check the chicken though, you'll see most chicken has a hole poked through the plastic wrap for the smell test some of it should be on the shelf at any price.
I've had to do that .. put it back I mean but more then often its fine and you can get a large whole chook for around $3.00.
Again however the best and freshest chicken is at Super Duper from my experience and they don't shrink so much when cooked. I do notice much of the Lucky chicken looses 20% in weight and size or there abouts when cooked, so its pumped up with water which is quite possibly why its shelf life is depleted.
Lamb chops is another thing I miss 2 or 3 years back you could buy some decent lamb chops expensive but bearable now the cops are horrible emaciated looking things and price has doubled. The good NZ stuff like a rack of lamb the Bayon carry at over 30$ is just not good for most folks pockets including mine right now.

That price is outrageous. I can by a whole 15 kg lamb/ shep for 22 USD. Cutting it up is a bit of a mess but the cost savings are hard to ignore. I normally get about 50% meat for future comsumption and 50% gest to be dog food. But anyway, Norvegian shep prices may not apply to the KOW?
