By now we're all used to being surprised by the annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's nominees and selections such as Abba and Janet Jackson.

However, some of this year's nominees seem to go well beyond the realms of logic:

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation announced today the following Nominees for 2022 Induction:

Beck
Pat Benatar
Kate Bush
DEVO
Duran Duran
Eminem
Eurythmics
Judas Priest
Fela Kuti
MC5
New York Dolls
Dolly Parton
Rage Against The Machine
Lionel Richie
Carly Simon
A Tribe Called Quest
Dionne Warwick

You know that the actual rock bands (Devo, MC5, Judas Priest, and New York Dolls) probably are NOT going to win.

Meanwhile, why the heck are Lionel Ritchie, Dolly Parton, Dionne Warwick and Kate Bush even mentioned? They're all talented artists but didn't really record many rock songs, which most people assume is the point.

Anywayz, I don't really give a toss but it makes you wonder what this world is coming to...

Rock n roll hall of lame.

I'm just happy The Cure were inducted in 2020.

I've been to the rock hall 2-3 times. The second time I went there to get my copy of The Electric Kool-aid Acid Test signed by Ken Kesey, Mountain Girl and what was left of the Merry Pranksters. They were there in a second version of their psychedelic school bus.
Another time, the 3rd floor which has different displays rotating every 3-4 months had a Hendrix display which was excellent. If you're ever in Cleveland, it's a must see.
As for the inductees, the controversies started soon after it opened in 1995. Lots of non-deserving artists have been admitted and lots of deserving artists who seem to be obvious inductees have never even been nominated.
Nominations are done by the powers that be in New York. If it was up to Clevelanders to handle the nominations, the nominees would be much more hard core rock and roll artists.

The term "Rock n Roll" does not mean the style of music, it is a loose description.

Agreed. It's a band's contribution to the industry, hence great artists like the Beastie Boys and such.
