Any luck with Alex?
I am actually not in town and am having someone take care of things for me, but if they cant manage I'll give him a ring when I get back.

I actually Kerry expressed my stuff to him. Very efficient and excellent English.

I'n not even convinced that iOne is a real Apple reseller. I think Apple would have a heart attack if they ever came here and saw what sort of store they were operating under the Apple brand. I'd never recommend them to anyone for anything. Their prices are astronomical compared to what you can get elsewhere, you'd get better service from a wet paper towel, their stock is about as outdated as a 70's porn moustache and their website looks like something a proud parent of a 5 year old would stick on their fridge.

Plenty of much better alternatives.

Agreed. I tried to buy an Ipnone from them but they were just so inept I just gave up, which is unlike me as I’m pretty relaxed, after 20 mins they got one from the back but then spent 30 mins doing whatever. I could touch it. Just walked out. Went to Smart.

Second time I had a MacBook problem. This time different staff equally useless. Tried to tell me my internals had been swapped for Chinese copies (they opened it up in front of me) and it must be fake or someone had swapped it. It was bought new from Apple Orchard Road, Singapore.
Just walked out. Again.

Good luck on the Apple repair/data recovery.

I'm not an apple fan, here is the proper way to fix one.

I knew it wouldn’t be long till the passive aggressive Apple haters came along.

^^That's alright, we all tend to shit on brands we don't like and I'm no exception.

Truth be told, I hate what Apple has been doing lately with their $2k iPhones and until recently, really badly made stuff (my old iBook G3 from 2002 still works but the 2019 model is the dead one)...but I run Mac OS stuff for some things, Windows for some things, and Linux for others so...whatever.

...but back on subject, I don't think it's going to be recoverable at all. Board is completely fried and the battery damaged too, so may as well buy a new one as it's almost a grand to replace everything... Gives me an excuse to get off of the god awful butterfly keyboard.

Cheers for the help all,
AE

That would be me.....

To spell out the specifics. For my last job I had both an Iphone and Ipad. Both worked great for my job. Products worked good for my work when they worked. Just not a fan of the closed garden approach. If this approach works for someone fine, have at it. It's just not for me.

Back in the day I LOVED apple (APPLE II+ days). Really admired the Woz, Not so much Jobs. Jobs was good at what he did, but in my opinion was dishonest and arrogant. Just rubbed me the wrong way. Now with the difficulty to repair (watch some Luis Rossman on youtube) I still have a bad taste about Apple.

Not much better for Microsoft (Spycrosoft). thus most the time I just use Linux as my go-to at home.

Good luck on the repair.

This has been by far the best thing I have ever done for my home computer.

I run Ubuntu 20.04 and it's 99% what I need in a home computer without any of the proprietary nonsense of Windows, and all the flexibility for hardware and upgrades like old Apples (I started with a Mac OS 8 Performa "Pizza Box").

Any company who uses Apple products (apart from desktop publishing companies and Apple) for their employees is either nuts or sadists.

As personal laptops and phones go you can’t beat them.

Also, why do people talk about the founders of Apple when talking about “Apple” or their products? I don’t buy Samsung and complain about Kim Hyun-Suk and his political or personal views! Seems very odd to mean.
