Re: Ottawa Trucker Convoy Protest Vax Mandates
I come from a family of union members, (electricians, nurses, and teachers) and it blows my mind how many of them think the government should just send in the cops to bust up this protest, on the grounds that it’s inconveniencing people and disrupting their businesses.
None of them ever had any sympathy for all of the small local businesses that were affected every time the electricians went on strike and shut the pulp mill down, or for all of the parents who had to scramble to find a babysitter when the teachers went on strike, so that they could keep going to work themselves, or the people who had to have their surgeries delayed when they nurses refused to work.
It seems like a lot of people are just going with whatever opinion the TV puts into their heads, and never see things from the other side until they find themselves there, even when they, themselves, were already in a similar position many times in the past.
No protest can accomplish anything if it doesn’t cause some kind of disruption. Nobody ever got a raise or better working conditions by grumbling under their breath while continuing to do the boss’s bidding.
