The owners of 13 French colonial flats in Kampong Chhnang province have to negotiate with their own demolition company

Cambodia News, Kampong Chhnang: On the morning of January 27, 2022, HE San You, Deputy Governor of Kampong Chhnang Province, handed over the law to the people so that the owners of the 13 flats could negotiate with the demolition company.

Hing Phop Mina, Deputy Governor of Kampong Chhnang City, said that in the past, the provincial authorities had promised the owners of the 13 flats that the authorities would only have a role as a mediator with the company, so for the price of this apartment, the landlord has to negotiate with the company.

It should be noted that these 13 stone houses were built during the French colonial period during 1931 and are now 91 years old. However, the buildings are now so fragile, that the city authorities have declared that they are unsafe and must be demolished.

They look like Chinese shop houses not French.

The French should be paying the bill, seeing as how they've raped the country for years and encouraged Pol Pot.

Colonial French buildings are more ornate. There’s only a handful in Kampot for example, The Old Cinema being one, everything else is Chinese or locally built.

Not being sarcastic, read up on the French colonial powers. Protectorat français du Cambodge implemented a wide range of structural styles from African, Asian and American. Vietnam being divided up into threes and each protectorat having vastly different building styles from the French government.

Whatever. Those Chinese style/built/born houses have no architectural or historical significance. Rip them down.
