Apsara Authority VS Police VS Tourists Angkor Wat, Siem Reap

Post by CEOCambodiaNews »

Siem Reap, Cambodia: Apsara Authority have recently been VERY strict about only allowing 100 tourists at a time to climb up Angkor Touch at the Angkor Wat Complex. This causes people to have to queue for a long time to get up Angkor Touch to watch the sunset.

A tour group operator decided that his clients shouldn't have to wait in line, so he asked the lovely Apsara Authority ladies if they could just go on up. When his request was denied he went ape shit.

I met some of his friends at the supermarket checkout last week.
Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.

Now the tour guide has a nice bargaining angle when he brings up the issue of a tip at the end of the day. "You see what I do for you?! I fight for you, you see all of Angkor, you don't wait long time."

Looks like a nightmare. Glad to have been here in the days when i could sit up there for hours in the afternoon, pretty much alone save a few temple kids and nuns and the stray tourist, quietly reading my book until sunset when maybe 10 or 20 tourist would show up to watch the sun go down. We'd sit outside along the 3rd level ledges, have a smoke and watch the sun set in near silence. It was a good time.

No, I'm behind the camera, and my hair was only about half as long as his at the time.
