Foreign Woman Victim of Phone Snatching on Phnom Penh Street

Cambodia News, (Phnom Penh): On the night of January 25, 2022, at the corner of Street 135 and Street 460, Sangkat Toul Tum Poung I, Khan Chamkar Mon, Phnom Penh, a foreign woman was victim of phone-snatching by two thieves on a motorbike.

The woman walked out of the rented room where she was staying and stood talking to a friend on the sidewalk, when suddenly, two men appeared on a motorcycle, a Honda C125 without a license plate, snatched her cell phone and drove off. Fortunately, the woman was not injured, but was of course shocked by the incident. The thieves are now being sought by police.

Local people are saying that thieves often target foreigners, and they hope that the local authorities of Chamkar Mon district will arrest these men, and that the police need to get tougher on crime in order to protect citizens and foreigners.
