That is a very good question you pose, Nemo.
There are indeed the constipated traditionalist old fools,
and the "going-senile, but now top of the heap" old police and military class that were injected with that american DEA insanity pox when they were young. And both are still very very powerful groupings in Thailand.
How hard will they kick back?
I wonder if they can stop the tide of revolution that their "learned to smoke pot at uni" kids are conducting right now.
Except these young revolutionaries are not wearing beads and sandals - they are the technocrats and bureaucrats and younger generation of politicians from all sides that are now taking over the show.
And they like drug money as much as their dads - except they are going to make it all legal and 'nice' for a change.
ahhh.. The new breed of bright young things surfing the cannabis wave. lol. Some things will never change.

I smoked weed too, but never at dusk. @phuketrichard , are you 70? Damn, you must be. I remember that late in '86 when our Arizona Sensimilla got cut off and we had to buy Afghani Freedom Fighter Hash for like 6 mos. there. That was pretty rough on the throat that ol' black Afghani stuff was.phuketrichard wrote: ↑Tue Jan 25, 2022 5:44 pm been smoking for over 55 years...... I'll tell ya'"
" Dope will get you through times of no money better than money will get you through times of no dope"
Of course do not approve of youth smoking dope or worse cigs, but how ya going to stop anyone? I recall being 16 an siting outside the liquor store asking people to buy beer cause i was not 21.
it would be illegal as is drinking for anyone under 16, 18, 21, ( depending on which state/country)
The war on drugs in the states, thailand, the Philippines has been a HUGE costly mistake .
Think of the $$$ every government could make if it was legal an tax'd, not to mention how it would free up the courts and jails across the world
Legalization is the ONLY way forward.
So, back home in Colorado here's what legalization has done for the ledger; More than $12 billion in marijuana has been sold since legalization in 2014, with the state collecting over $2 billion in taxes. Colorado brought in a record $423 million in tax revenue from marijuana sales last year, according to the latest market report from the state's Department of Revenue (DOR).Jan 14, 2022
Now, that's a small state pulling in 423 million dollars- EXTRA, dollars. I vote for legalization, if it were here that would make sense. China, however, might not approve.
Re: on the road to Legalisation of household cannabis, limited recreational use
No matter what is done "if all drugs were to be made legal" you think that the illegal market would end, thinking like so you are all living in a dream world. I would say carry on following your white rabbit he has a good time piece but like yourselves he is late. Do you not think governments would not be able to stop and wipe out drug trade at their disposal if they wished to do so? Do you also think governments do also not profit? Legally or illegal.

I haven't had a smoke in years, "why" because I have found no need to do so, in fact the last time I really smoked was for pain relief when I was seriously ill.
In my younger years of age, I did smoke for the purpose of recreation. Music festivals and the likes. I have like some of you had bad weed and solid, the worst being that shitty Moroccan light coloured leb laced in diesel oil. Although there is also good Moroccan leb. My all-time favourite was Manali black, I at one part of my life nearly lost myself in mountain climbing in the area. Also higher in the Himalayas illegally trekking in Nepal (no visa for the county) we would go along with Indian people with their pack-horse's and return at times with them once they had collected kilos of Nepalese temple ball or its likes. We also did the same in Rajasthan in the Thar Desert to and from the Pakistan border.
Here years back I was buying rice sacks full of weed for $2.50 per sack, the stuff you would never have looked at, but it would yield the best oil content I have ever come across, mixed with a good dark chocolate it was the business.
But I also agree with other posters, pot doesn't agree with everyone, and I have seen the mental health issues with friends and family.

Cambodian NACD warns against marijuana cultivation, export or drug use
Interesting part, I had heard this before but never from the horse's mouth:

Interesting part, I had heard this before but never from the horse's mouth:
The National Authority for Combating Drugs (NACD) yesterday warned that anyone who cultivates marijuana, processes it for any form of business, or abuses it will be punished in accordance with the Anti-Drug Law.
NACD secretary-general General Meas Vyrith yesterday said that cultivating or processing marijuana for business or for export was strictly prohibited as marijuana is a drug that is prohibited to grow, store, use or trade.
He added that the use of cannabis or marijuana has detrimental effects on health, including neurological complications, and has been found to have no medical benefit other than causing serious harm.
Gen Vyrith said there were some people who grow two or three marijuana plants at home which is not illegal but if they grow in large quantities as a drug and cause people to become addicted to it or as substance abuse, then it is an offence.

Re: on the road to Legalisation of household cannabis, limited recreational use
I have had to remind some stubborn associates that are in their 60''s recently of pot's illegality when I have been sitting and they started smoking. In this current climate there are no more gray areas and all infractions seem to get sorted regardless how things used to be. In country I have only smoked a couple times in the last year and refuse to be around those who smoke outright. I guess I am a bit of snob too and the whole thing is nowhere as fun as going to a legit reefer shop in Colorado and talking to a really hot 22 year old gal about what kind of buzz works for you and what doesn't.
If we were Futurists, we would probably be banking on a small SE Asian Nation to legalize reefer in the next 10-20 years. These days are not normal for any of us anywhere so it seems harder to project out from here but given some of the successful experiments in the West, I think it very unlikely that the kind of revenue generated by those experiments, along with the lack of non violent offenses that go along with alcohol, will go unnoticed in this region.

The article does not talk the truth, because here is a business that pay taxes and have a licence to cultivate.John Bingham wrote: ↑Thu Jan 27, 2022 6:57 pm Cambodian NACD warns against marijuana cultivation, export or drug use

As the largest licenced cannabis cultivator and grower in Cambodia, Mekong Gold fully complies with all domestic tax and fee requirements together with meeting strict water quality protection provisions, hazardous material requirements, all Ministry of Environment provisions and land management regulations just to name a few.

THAILAND ONE STEP CLOSER TO DECRIMINALIZING MARIJUANA
The godfather
Dont get excited about this< note bold, ( average LEGAL in CA runs about 12-20%)Thailand on Tuesday moved one step closer toward being the first Asian nation to decriminalize marijuana, after its health minister signed a measure officially dropping cannabis from a list of controlled drugs.
https://www.khaosodenglish.com/news/cri ... marijuana/The delisting will mean all parts of cannabis, including flowers and seeds, are allowed to be used in Thailand. However, extracted content will remain illegal if it contains more than 0.2% of the psychoactive ingredient that produces a “high” — tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC.
Production, sale and possession of cannabis will remain partially regulated, however, meaning recreational use of marijuana is not yet legal. The ministry’s stated policy is to promote the use of cannabis for medicinal purposes and build an industry around derived products.
The godfather
20++ years ago average street pot was around 4-5%Sometimes nicknamed the ‘Don of all OGs,’ the Godfather OG strain has become a modern classic at 34%!!

lol. We all seem a bit confused.
Obviously too much ditchweed and hybrid in the air tonight.
I prescribe a specialist, focussing, higher-function, cerebral, old Thai sativa landrace to enhance our clarity.
carry on..
Not for posers.
