World population maxed out?
One projection says the global population will reach 11 billion then slowly decline. Other vary. greatly.
lol. It is astonishing, none (few anyway) of the demographers make any accounting for war, pandemics, global warming or the general over-stretching and degradation of the Earths ecology.
It's like they have a certain set of inputs that reflect the current situation and assume nothing will rock the boat.
Yeah right. The graph has exploded exponentially over the past hundred years. We are now akin to climbing the Matterhorn, almost vertical
- but all of a sudden because of things like women's education, we will soon be strolling a gentle sunny slope down the other side.
And with zero damage whatsoever to the ecology that is supposed to support us all.
No pandemics, no major global conflicts.
BS. I know for a fact that planet cannot continue to support even its current 8 bill.
Not even psychologically (we have all lost the plot in case you hadn't noticed), let alone physically.

Re: World population maxed out?
It sounds to me like a group of academics who all study the same thing were in a room, all congratulating themselves on how clever they were to have reached their conclusion and they never talked to the academics in the other rooms in the building who specialise in other areas because they were all getting off on how great they are in their select niche of expertise. If they had talked to the other academics they wouldn't get to feel special about what they had discovered.
I've heard that archeology is often the same. Acamedics who have built their career around being an expert in ... whatever ... are often hostile to, for example, a geologist coming along with a different area of expertise that could shed a whole new light on our understanding of history.
I think anyone who is really paying attention would agree that the human race is in for some very challenging times in the not too distant future. It's hard to see how we can continue to thrive and multiply.

The hardest part might be having to listen to the likes of those who have been so vocal on social media during the two plus years covid-19 has been with us. Please let whatever faces us somehow target them firstRandom Dude wrote: ↑Sat Jan 22, 2022 4:56 am It sounds to me like a group of academics who all study the same thing were in a room, all congratulating themselves on how clever they were to have reached their conclusion and they never talked to the academics in the other rooms in the building who specialise in other areas because they were all getting off on how great they are in their select niche of expertise. Despite what angsta states, it’s clear from reading through his posts that angsta supports the free FreePalestine movement.

The 11b figure doesn't come out of nowhere. Watch Hans Rosling dumb it down for you/us on YouTube and it's pretty clear. Many countries have declining birth rates already, and war accounts for very few deaths all things considered. Even population growth in Asia has declined drastically already (think if the number of kids Cambodians had 15 years ago vs now), and Africa is the last continent with significant growth, largely because of religion, child mortality rates and education.
I agree that were already pretty overpopulated though. Humans are a bit of a virus/cancer.

There’s nothing to be concerned about, in the event that the group of scientists in the “Earths population will max out at 11 billion” room are somehow mistaken in their calculations, the scientists in the “we will colonize Mars” room will take care of any excess.Random Dude wrote: ↑Sat Jan 22, 2022 4:56 am It sounds to me like a group of academics who all study the same thing were in a room, all congratulating themselves on how clever they were to have reached their conclusion and they never talked to the academics in the other rooms in the building who specialise in other areas because they were all getting off on how great they are in their select niche of expertise. We’ve also to factor in the strong possibility of global war between all the growing populations of SJW’s, vegetarians, vegans, trans people and all the other ‘non binary’ genders, in a battle to be the ‘most special’ people in the world.
Re: World population maxed out?
Isn't Elon freaking out due to population decline? Something like we wouldn't have 1m people to colonize Mars?
