Anyway dudes, if you're wondering whether this meagre fire was just a press demo, note photo No. 4, with boxes and boxes of prawns dumped all over the ground. But it does look like it's going to be an all-day BBQ.

Saw this article about gel-injected shrimp. I've also seen reports from other Asian countries of toxic, silica gel being used to increase the weight of prawns.

Nothing new with bad food products that can not be sold in Vietnam/Thailand to be sent over to Cambodia to try make some money on what should be thrown away.

Luckily they do catch alot of it at border or inspections in the markets.

More than 12 tons of illegally transported mollusc seized by authorities

A truck carrying a cargo of more than 12 tons of edible mollusc was seized by the authorities in Kampong Speu.

The police seized the truck and its cargo on January 22, at Kraing Phnov Village, O Commune, Phnom Sruoch District, Kampong Speu, along National Road 4. The truck was seized by the Kampong Speu Anti Economic Crimes police force.

The Director of the Economic Crimes Police Office of Kampong Speu Provincial Police, Heng Samrech, reported that the provincial economic crime police stopped a Daewoo truck with bearing the license plate Kampong Thom 3A 2312. The driver of the truck was identified as Kheang Sokha, a 41-year-old male from Trapeang Tros Village, Samrong Tong Commune, Samrong Tong District, Kampong Speu.

The man was transporting the mollusc, without a permit, from Keo Phos Port, Sre Ambel District, Koh Kong to Vietnam through Tboung Khmum.

The Director stated that police discovered 245 sacks of mollusc, weighing more than 12 tons. The evidence was handed over to the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Kampong Speu.

Cambodia News, (Phnom Penh): According to information from the General Department of Consumer Protection, Competition and Anti-Fraud issued this Wednesday, January 26, 2022: Officials surveyed markets in Kampong Cham, Pursat, Banteay Meanchey, Svay Rieng and Siem Reap provinces on January 25 to ensure the quality of foodstuffs circulating in the market before the upcoming Chinese New Year celebrations.

During the operation, officials found 228.29 kilograms of defective goods. All these goods were confiscated by PAC officials and stored for destruction, while the owners of the goods were fined and advised to stop distributing defective products.

The same source continued that on the same day, the DPRK professional officers at the Kep branch continued to inspect all kinds of food, especially seafood, which people like to buy for eating in the crab market of Kep province.
After the operation, according to the results, the officials confirmed that all samples were in compliance with health regulations.

Cambodia News (Kampot Province): On February 4, 2022, the CCF officers inspected the prawns imported from Vietnam across the Cambodian border, at Prek Chak, Kampot province.
The officers found 128kg of prawns containing CMC chemicals, amongst the 13 tons of prawns that were inspected. The chemically tainted prawns were seized and destroyed.
