Will Djokovic play or not?
Re: Will Djokovic play or not?
I am wondering whether it took Mr. Hawke so long because he tried to go for a deal?
Anyway, that's what I would have done.
"Go home mate, voluntarily. Say a few good words to our people. No cancellation or 3-year ban necessary."
Face saved for both sides. Money saved. More friends kept.
Djokovic's tenacity has had a big part in him winning 20 Grand Slams. But here it is backfiring.
His lawyers are making more cash. Good for them.
On a different note: Are CEO members still voting on this?
Anyway, that's what I would have done.

I suggested this exact scenario on Twitter several days ago. If it was even proposed, I guess Novax refused.yongchi wrote: ↑Fri Jan 14, 2022 5:57 pm I am wondering whether it took Mr. Hawke so long because he tried to go for a deal?

Djokovic could have even proposed it himself, after more damaging details (e.g., adventures while COVID positive) surfaced. He could have even just done it. (It would likely have been considered backstabbing to cancel the visa of a man who has left.)
I doubt the previously angry judge is on his side this time.

Re: Will Djokovic play or not?
With the language and hysteria we are seeing in Serbia about this, you can easily understand why this country was guilty of so many inhumane war crimes in their desperation to keep their despotic little Yugoslavian empire together.
War crimes, crimes against humanity, attempted genocide against the populace of half a dozen different states - all in the name of of that insane Serbian nationalism they are so infamous for.
(You want to take the gloves off, Mamma Djokovic? - ok.)

In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST

True, Serbia makes even that basket case of Covid hysteria, Australia, look like a sane place in comparison.SternAAlbifrons wrote: ↑Sat Jan 15, 2022 1:30 am With the language and hysteria we are seeing in Serbia about this, you can easily understand why this country was guilty of so many inhumane war crimes in their desperation to keep their despotic little Yugoslavian empire together.

@Clutch Cargo
Are my eyes deceiving me or did many of those "NO" votes get posted after the news of the cancellation broke?
I seem to remember "YES" being well in the lead from the start.

Re: Will Djokovic play or not?
No, 'yes' was never in the lead after a few days of the poll.
Might have been 1 or 2 slipped in coz I checked the results before the cancellation and the total votes was 30 or 31. Def had started with a 3.
This morning there were 31 votes, now there's 32 so there's 1 extra but I think it went to 'don't care'. The percentage s this morning I recall were:
No 48%
Don't care 29%
I think Yes didn't change at 16%
Don't know unchanged 2%
So members who voted pretty well got the decision right.
Anyway, I'll lock the poll/topic now and discussion can continue on the sister topic post528195.html#p528195
