Cambodian govt put the kibosh on the rollout of 5G here last year.

Not sure if there's been any update since then.

Your kit is compatible (supposedly) with the network.
It does everything I need it to do and is fast enough.

I bought it second hand for $155 in January 2020 and I intend to get another 2 years out of it at least. :D

If messaging and phone calls is all you do then an $18 basic phone will do.

What does 4.5 or 5G do that 4G doesn't?
5G, like its predecessors, is a spec that includes a whole bunch of technologies to get faster speed, efficiency, range etc.

4.5G is the name for an intermediate step they’ve come up with that includes a bunch of 5G technologies but hasn’t completed the full set required to be called actual 5G.

The main thing 5G does in my opinion is potentially make wired connections redundant for home use. Whether it plays out that way depends on the telecoms companies.

I have to say, it was a godsend when they started miniaturising! Before this, the phones were huge!
