Corona in Cambodia

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. Corona in Cambodia

Post by Retired Sailor »

Please I know a lot of you are old fellas please take care we know it's about here but I have just had a stay in calmette hospital and it's beyond folks like inexplicable coronavirus is here and there's loads dying in the hospital I literally watched multiple people die in a single day and they were fucking young. Please don't believe it's not rife here or that there's a ventilator available for you here, there's not, they are triaging oxygen masks nevermind ventilators. These were not poor people their families had money clearly.

Were you admitted to a covid ward?
You are saying the situation is more serious than reported by the media?

You were all in one big room dying in front of each other? How did you recognize the young people being wealthy? Why were you in the hospital?

It appears that Delta is still the dominant strain in SE Asia - I read the other day that measure are being taken to try to keep omicron out of the country when the exact opposite should be happening. Omicron is acting as a natural vaccine in many countries with its milder infections, lower hospital admissions, and most importantly, its ability to eradicate the much more harmful Delta variant.

If Covid is going to be present and spreading, omicron is so much the lesser of two evils. By trying to keep it out they're continuing to allow Delta to remain the dominant strain, so I'm not surprised hospital wards are full of people dying. If that's the case.

I'm in doubt that loads of rich kids are dying on a daily basis and the general population knows nothing about it.

We would be overflowing with huge funerals blocking every street and waking everybody up at 6 in the morning.

Oh, that worries me, according to what is being said about the number of people ill with the virus, and of the people who have died. It simply cannot be.
The numbers -
Cambodia also announced 0 new deaths, bringing the total to 3015 direct deaths from COVID-19 in Cambodia. 11 recoveries were announced – there are now 611 active COVID cases diagnosed by PCR test in Cambodia.
Always "hope" but never "expect".

Obviously some of his story sounds a little stretched, I'm sure we all highly doubt the numbers they're releasing.. it's probably way higher.
