stuck in dublin--delay in connecting flights + pcr test info

Do you have a Cambodian trip report you want to share? Post it here, and feel free to link to your blog if it's a travel blog for Cambodia, South East Asia, or anywhere really. You can ask and answer questions about travel advice in Cambodia or just share your pictures and videos with us. Most people who live in or visit Cambodia have also checked out nearby countries like Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, Myanmar, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines, and you can get to most of these countries by traveling overland, so put any travel plans, reviews or questions here. Discussions about dirt bike trails in here as well.

stuck in dublin--delay in connecting flights + pcr test info

Post by BklynBoy »

due to some friggin massive chaos on my return trip from Malaga-- some important info

Our first flight out of Malaga was delayed so we missed our connecting flight to JFK-- they gave us free food and hotel (which is nice) but zero info on how to fucking operate the covid test-- USA requires 24 hours ..but how can you do that when a connecting flight is delayed

we landed in DUBLIN and every person we asked gave us a different answer. They were good at coordinating the hotel rooms and transit..which is important.

We had to collect our luggage and our returning flight from Dublin to jfk was next day-- which we knew because was on itinerary but had no info about covid testing. At the airport they suggested going to this place by airport. Line was around the block. Dublin is friggin cold and dark now.. Not like Malaga at all lol
waited over an hour on line and then guy at door says its only for appointments..wtf!!

go from 1 place to another. trying to find something open. TURNS Out... cdc guidelines are as follows

If a connecting flight in your trip is delayed past the 1-day limit of testing due to a situation outside of your control (e.g., delays because of severe weather or aircraft mechanical problem), and that delay is less than 48 hours past the 1-day limit for testing, you do not need to be retested.

even when we went to board and check in. the lady said our covid test is out of range and we showed her the cdc guidelines and she was nice about it. showed her boss and we were let thru.

its crazy because they didnt know anything about it. we had to be proactive. Thank god we found this information
but its important for future. if anyone is delayed not due to your control

i am back in BRooklyn and it worked out well

Hey; it was your choice to travel>>
your choice to travel is a heartless response omg. Sounds like you got zero empathy

Of course my choice to travel but i am letting people know about the cdc guildelines and was surprised the airport staff wasnt aware of it.
A lot of moving parts and all you can say is "it's your choice to travel" .. We all try to be as up on the regulations as possible. I wasn't aware of the cdc guidelines about delays and connecting flights.

If i put in the wrong section, I apologize-- If can be moved thats fine with me.

It's fine where it is. 'On the road' has become a general travel sub-section not exclusively to Cambodia.

And thanks for sharing, this could be useful for anyone returning to the US.
