High Art, fresh from Democratic Kampuchea..
Well, not sure about the High Art, but certainly some interesting footage here
unfortunately, not much of it is unscripted
looking for some more actual combat footage, not very interesting watching 'battles' staged for propaganda
an introduction. great music, but mostly for the words
not really 'hot' action. but you get the idea >>
equal opportunity employer, age no barrier
mostly the 'liberation' of phnom penh, but also some footage of the fight into town >>
this one includes some vietnamese footage, used to illustrate the US cambodian bombings. Hmm..."interesting". looks like a VN production too, unlike most of the others. >>
the evacuation. interspersed with some footage about the earlier 'liberation'. >>
those dammed to Hell patrol boats. chinese and american made. and why there should be a KRT trial #3 - for Meas Muth
similar idea but not really the same as the hippy communes i visited in mid '70's
the first 'new asian tiger'. an infrastructure hothouse >>
ahh. i think that should read 'trains'. no trans in DK (probably) >>
this next one is particularly poignant. So Phim, the events leading to his suicide, and the 'rebellion' in the Eastern Zone was one the most interesting features i had the privilege of witnessing during the 2nd KR trial- examined in exhaustive detail . Indeed it is one of the important features which shaped current Cambodian history. >>
A french doco. not sure of it's background. includes some of the raw KR footage in the other vids above. and more >>
Covid restrictions getting you down? count your blessings.

Lol.. Thanks K.
That first one came from a weirdo Youtube channel by a "ChairmanErica" - specialising in Marxist anthems from all over world.
In any case, the printed lyrics are still very instructive about the mindset, dogma and tone, at the early, "struggle", stage of the Cambodian communist revolution.
Most of the other vids seem to be raw KR footage
One probably produced by the Vietnamese, one French.
I don't suppose anybody wants to interpret and write for us a review the revolutionary songs that are a feature of most of these vids?
No i thought not.
You sure?.. 'fascinating stuff i reckon

Most of these videos are straight-out propaganda, but they do help fill in the visual picture.
This is the one that stands out for me.
I have not seen a collection of photographs of the evacuation of Phnom Penh anything like this before. Real life.
(nb, there are a few confusing shots of the April 17 fall/liberation mixed in there)

It’s funny you say that I’ve written a few essays on Khmer Rouge songs, but I’m sure they are a bit complicated for the likes of you.SternAAlbifrons wrote: ↑Tue Dec 28, 2021 5:10 pm Lol.. Thanks K.

Re: High Art, fresh from Democratic Kampuchea..
So much MONATIO in all these videos. For such a short-lived and ultimately useless movement they did manage to get themselves in the history books and photos - labeled as "Khmer Rouge take the capital". Although they were not in any way aligned with the Kampuchean Communists - (they were more of a last ditch attempt by the Republican government to reach some sort of treaty) they did actually manage to disarm large parts of the city before the real Khmer Rouge turned up. They were rounded up and executed.

The group was executed by the Khmer Rouge soon after, personally fitting into the definition of "useful idiots." Without them, disarming of FANK soldiers could not have occurred so rapidly and they did act practically as Traffic cops for the Khmer Rogue.
Silence, exile, and cunning.

Sorry to be so beneath you
- just an unschooled old bloke who has followed KR history, intensely, since 1971 out of personal interest.
It is a pity we only have "correctors" here.
nobody is interested in the KR any more, it seems.
