City of Ghosts 2. Jimmy (Ben Affleck) returns to find (his career) Sok (Kem Sereyvuth) who’s now a real estate developer and Sophie (Natasha McEllhone) finally gets her knockers out. Guest starring the ghost of Marvin (James Caan) and some French bloke.

This development of Bokor has similar vibes as Genting Highlands in Malaysia. When they build it in the 70s everybody thought the guy (Lim Goh Tong) was crazy. It had bit of boom in 80s and 90s and then in 2000's the place was quieter as all the buildings and resorts started to show wear. Now the area has been booming for last couple years. Weekends and on holidays the place is jam packed and new high rises and resorts are being built all the time. People from KL go to enjoy cooler weather there.

Yes because of the climate, adverse weather conditions the owners need to employ full-time painter's like on the Forth Bridge.

"Painting the Forth Bridge" is a colloquial expression for a never-ending task, coined on the erroneous belief that at one time in the history of the bridge repainting was required and commenced immediately upon completion of the previous repaint.
Such a practice never existed, as weathered areas were given more attention, but there was a permanent maintenance crew. In 2011, the bridge was covered in a new coating designed to last for 25 years, bringing an end to having painters as a regular part of the maintenance crew. Colin Hardie, of Balfour Beatty Construction, was reported as saying,

For the first time in the bridge's history there will be no painters required on the bridge. Job done ...
Always "hope" but never "expect".

I have hundreds of pictures from before the new road was built. I like the cycle of rebirth and decay.

A mate and I tried to take dirt bikes up the abandoned road having given 10000reil to the ranger at the gate but it was impossible after about 600m.

This is considered an option if they follow the ridge

At some stage (at least 6-7 years ago), there was talk of constructing a cable car up the side of Bokor to the casino and resort area for tourists. Do we have any news of progress on this ?
Thought it sounded like a spiffing idea. :smileinbox:

Stayed here for two nights this past August. The place was literally cloud covered most of those two days. I don't know any paint that can handle that kind of continuous moisture/humidity. Too bad because it really looked nice a few years back when they just finished painting the place.
Had a blast during our stay there. The interior is very well kept and the room was nice. Great staff. We were the only ones staying there at the time and the kitchen was closed. The food was being made at the other newer Chinese hotel close by and was being delivered by motorbike.
We were lucky to have the place to ourselves as the day we checked out, the place was having a barbecue in the backyard and the hotel was fully booked with some super -wealthy Khmer. It was a great overall experience. 👌👌

Why do people quote massive posts with pictures?

Enjoyed the pics, especially the hotel returning to its former state. I went up there many times and have wondered what had hapened to the place.
