Bokor National park development in Kampot

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. what about the casino / resort at the top?
In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST

At the security checkpoint they were not happy about my dog hanging out the window but my Khmer friend told them to feck off and she had taken the dog up there many times. They thought we were going to gamble at the casino. My vax card was required but the 2 Khmer in the card weren't asked at all.

Also about 1/2 way up the monkey population is starting to get out of control. At least 100 counted over about 1km right on the roadside. I wanted to film them on the way down but the torrential rain had them all sheltering somewhere. They have very good eyesight - the females and babies spotted the dog hanging out the window pretty quick - the big males wanted to attack us.

So lots still going on up there but I am perplexed as to who the hell wants to lay out in excess of 100k to live up there? I had to have the heater on when the rain storm hit and the temp plummeted.

Then there is the matter of access up there. There was rumoured to be a new road planned from closer to Kampot town up the right hand ridge close to the top of the road but no sign of it - will look harder next time but it was just too wet. However I did notice diggers clearing a track on the left just before the casino - there used to be a rough road where they had brought up the electricity some years ago but it had fallen to bits and very rough except maybe a trials bike.

I thought it wasn’t possible to build a road straight up as it’ll be too steep which is why mountain roads are twisty?

A mate and I tried to take dirt bikes up the abandoned road having given 10000reil to the ranger at the gate but it was impossible after about 600m.

This is considered an option if they follow the ridge

It still needs to rise too sharply. I don’t think it’ll be possible or practical with a “straight” road.
