Re: The Ashes Wednesday 8th December
No such luck. players tests all clear
Play only delayed - starting at 11am
with England's head in even more of a mess.
When do Nepal play Australia next?
i think the rest of the world will have more of a chance of beating the Aussies with them.
or the new official Taliban Cricket Team, i'd put 20 bucks on them

Given the spike in infections in NSW and Victoria, this test match is far from decided and if (when) Omicron gets into the dressing it will be game over. I reckon it's 50/50 that this series is concluded without a match cancelled or abandoned.SternAAlbifrons wrote: ↑Mon Dec 27, 2021 6:20 am No such luck. players tests all clear

Given Scomo's recent speech about Australia having to learn to live with this virus and for a shift to personal responsibility and not government mandates, I just hope this new attitude filters down to CA and whoever else is deciding to pull a player out of a match because he sat on a table too close to another table where someone tested positive.

Re: The Ashes Wednesday 8th December
lol,
good deflection stroke, Doc
but i reckon i caught you out in 1st slips
'Glad i don't have to support England now that they are obviously such a lost cause.
I was only being opportunistic hoping ANYbody (preferably EVerybody) could beat the abominable (for a 50 years) Australian mens cricket team.
How long do you reckon they can keep up this faux humility that they have been bunging on since Newlands? (ball tampering crimes)
I suppose they have not been too insufferable over the past few years, but i fear for their souls if they start winning too often, by too much, once again. That boasting, arrogant, cruel characteristic is too deep within modern australian cricket culture.
It all started when they stopped wearing white. i reckon.
World Series killed the true spirit of cricket dead. Australia started it and they went the hardest in the "winning is the only important thing" bullshit. It used to be about far more than that.

Re: The Ashes Wednesday 8th December
All out, 67
Australia win by an innings and 14 runs
Eng - 185 & 67
Aust - 267
Series; 3/0 Australia, 2 tests remaining
Credit given where credit due...
The big story of this innings was Scott Boland, fast bowler
more than a decade of 1st grade cricket but finally makes his test debut at age 32
6 for 5.
It was skittles out there this morning
a Tooheys or 2 for "Boles"
It must feel good to finally make your long overdue debut like that. 6 for 5 against England.

Re: The Ashes Wednesday 8th December
Is English cricket's class and race problem behind their dismal Ashes defeat?

England's cricketers have had a miserable six weeks in Australia.
For the first time in more than 60 years, they failed to score 300 in a single innings in an Ashes series.
In six out of 10 knocks, they failed to score 200.
Behind these ugly figures lies another set of statistics that tells a critical story of contemporary English cricket.
Not just of batting incompetence, but how England's Test team came to be selected from a narrow pool of privileged cricketers that does little for either equity or performance.
"Our research highlighted that you were 13 times more likely if you're white and privately educated to be selected as a professional cricketer than if you're white and state educated.
(34 times more likely if you white, privately educated than non-white and state educated)
Brown's statistical analysis suggests the England team's top order is a more elitist cohort than what you find in the UK's House of Lords.
