Kyle Rittenhouse Acquitted of All Charges

Yeah, that place out 'there'. Anything not really Cambodia related should go here.

Michigan school shooting:
Where does it mention self defense?
Looks like just another school shooting. Not even slightly related to the Rittenhouse story.
.. the wider picture of the gun laws problems in the USA...
I tend to agree with Chuck.
You can't cut and dice this into the minutiae of individual cases like lawyers do if you want to stop these mad shootings happening nearly every day.
It goes deeper. Even deeper than the laws themselves.

America may need to decide if it wants to remain a fiercely Individual Rights based nation, or a more social structured society like other democracies - if it wants to start functioning at its full potential once again.
Most nations and their citizens accept that some individual rights need to be subsumed to the greater good to a much greater extent than Americans seem to.

The supreme right of the individual is great in theory but look what happens.
Civil war. or soon, if this keep up.

On the OT of shootings in general there are indeed some questions to answer.

Why are there more school shootings now than 30 years ago when gun restrictions were so lax? Are the social interactions at school harsher now than they were then? Why are kids deciding the only choice is to go on a shooting spree?

Why are gun related crimes so high in some cities that also have the most restrictive firearm ownership laws?
Why are blacks and POC more likely to die by a weapon fired from another black or POC than all the others combined?

When did the rights of the victim get over taken by the rights of the perpetrator? Allowing the accused perp to be released into society where they often commit even more crimes before their trial even takes place for the first crime?

Gun ownership is not the problem as there are other countries with similar or higher numbers for ownership that do not have these problems. The issue at the core of all this is the mindset, the mentality of a society that allows this to have gotten to the stage it is now.

Violent crime amongst young male adults can, some say, be traced to the breakdown of the traditional family unit. They argue that replacing the father with the state has removed a valuable role model for young men who then go on to seek a replacement in other areas, such as a gang.

But, one thing is for sure. It won’t go away easily and it will never be fixed by a simply change of a law.

My point above was simply that a discussion on 'shootings in general' or 'gun law problems in general' will get lost in a thread titled 'Kyle Rittenhouse'. Why not start a new thread with a title relevant to the discussion.
And if Chuck or anybody else wants to spit the dummy and not bother with further discussion, that's their prerogative.

Rather than blame inanimate objects, let's look at the people committing the majority of the violent crime in the US.

Civil war? Happening right now. Coming in the other direction.

why not take many of the posts from the past 2 days and place under
"Gun violence in america"

Schools and such need more guidance counselors

I have no data but would not be surprised as the family unit started breaking down, As Ira mentioned above, ( mom no longer at home, more single parents), kids were alone more and received no guidance/ structure at home.

also, its been said before but still applies for the past 20 years
Video games have become a lot more violent from Pong>
kids shoot em up and cant relate to a game vs reality
In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST

The SP2022 pistols have earned an enviable reputation and proven track record of reliable performance in the hands of military and law enforcement professionals around the world.

^^ promo by the manufacturer, who sells them mostly at Walmart these days.

The stealth Sig.
Simple and easy to use.
The gun does exactly what it was meant to do.
At their low price, they’re understandably selling like hotcakes. They’re everywhere.

"I’m not a fan of the Sig’s loaded chamber indicator. If you’re out of ammo, the LCI advertises the fact to the Sig-savvy bad guy you’re holding at gunpoint. (<< :tard: ) Still, you can’t argue with the results.
"

The facts starting to come out now about the Michigan school shooting are truly frightening. But the SIG Sauer SP2022 is the least of them. It's the attitudes of the gun nut culture that is the biggest worry.

I agree with Big D (sort of). Guns don't kill people.
The deluded gun nut culture does. Every week.

imho only, please don't shoot me

The incident was the deadliest shooting at a US K-12 campus since 2018 and the 32nd such attack since August 1.
