Cambodia is second most vulnerable country in the world to cyber crime
https://www.arnnet.com.au/article/69305 ... ber-crime/
Which countries are most (and least) at risk for cyber crime?
Cyber security firm SEON has come up with a snapshot of how the threat of cyber crime differs around the world, ranking countries that are most and least vulnerable.
Denmark, Germany and the US were the least vulnerable.
Myanmar (Burma), Cambodia and Honduras were the most vulnerable.
Why do you think Cambodia is so vulnerable?

"Why do you think Cambodia is so vulnerable?"
Simple, because just about all Cambodian IP addresses are blacklisted due to malware.
The vast majority of business and private devices in Cambodia have malware.
Most Khmers don't understand what a computer virus is or how it works.
I recall one Khmer guy working in Finance at the place I worked a few years back, he had one of our IT team reinstalling Windows for him every week. And I mean 'every week'.
Sadly, the IT guy didn't have a clue about malware, so he was unable to 'educate' the other guy about how he could avoid the malware infections.

It would be nice if there was more "clean phones" on the market. "ClearPhone" was one and it seems semi clean. The only way to deal with this stuff I think is through the OEM distributors to include security products by default. Nothing else gets significant market penetration. Do you think phone security can be taught?

depends how you classify CYBER CRIME
if its about content copyright, yes? but that is only because the popular social media places don't have enough knowledge in Khmer
I hope being offended on the internet is considered cyber crime, but I know news media people get arrested here for saying the wrong thing or even quoting the wrong person.

Not just copyright.
Locals know very little about phishing, malware and such. No scrutiny when installing apps etc. If it has smileys and hearts and ringtones or whatever then it will be installed. When it doesn't work it will be left installed and forgotten.
Imagine every phone and every workstation in this condition all the way to government level and yeah, probably quite vulnerable.

I have yet to see a genuine copy of Windows or Office on any computer here. It's true that there is absolutely no concept of online security here, at least in my experience. The general attitude seems to be that it's not as if the computer has a spring loaded boxing glove that comes out of it and punches you in the face is it? So what's the problem?

Prevalence here due to uneducated naivety. IMO.
