Wings

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Wings

Post by ofparadise »

He gave up his wings, bound them, hid them, to marry a wingless princess.
Then he regretted his decision.
Now, he's still without wings and looking up to the skies.

Yes.

They have children and the children can grow wings.
But she clips them, and binds them since they were young.

He has tried to release the chains, to loosen the bonds...
it works for a moment but it never lasts.
Never stays off for long.

Now it's been 6 years. And his wings are growing back.
He's not sure if he should hide them or celebrate them with all.

But what should he do?
They are married, decent couple after all.
Should he just leave her and fly with no one in his arms?

His children left below
Left to fend her on the axis they call the ground.
It's been too long.

Oh now he can see them!

He can see them in a playground.
Swinging and running around.
His heart is peaceful now.
All his children, safe and sound.

Should he just pluck them and fly away one by one?
You can't separate a child from a mother, right?
Would that be best for those who have grown up wingless?

I can't ask you my child.

Perhaps wings may destroy you after all.

Do share your personal writings in this thread. The veils of anonymity does offer a safe place to vomit without judgement.

Two things comes to mind :

- If this is a creative writing / catharsis thread, why not title it so ? Wings is either a US band or a Khmer way to transfer money to me....
- Are you asking for advice about leaving your kids and fly away ? About taking them away without the mother's consent ?

You may not ask the child, but you can try to ask if someone was in the same situation as a child, as a parent.

What's the point of making children if you quit on them ?
If you can't go back, then at least keep moving forward. Complete something.
A body of responsability and family care Vs another vague opportunistic cuntish father figure running away, that should be an easy pick.
Which one do you think you embody in your children's eyes ?

If the interpretation of your scribe is accurate, perhaps your kids are better off without you.

With you, they will grow up without love, only resentment.

My folks split and reunited and, while they rarely argued and there was no aggression (the good I inherited), I never caught them smooching in the kitchen, even saying the word love. Hard to believe in something you've never seen (the not-so-good). They stayed together for us kids. Admirable sacrifice, but wrong move.

Go, if you are not going to enhance their future, by being there.

But, remember, they didn't ask to be brought into this world. They are, and always will be, your responsibility.

I appreciate your creativity with the English language, just not entirely sure this is the right platform that kind of thing. Poetry demands effort to decipher and fully comprehend and as demonstrated in the first few posts, I don't think most people come here for that sort of thing.

Here's something that'll give you wings.
