2-Days Old Baby Abandoned in Tuktuk at the Market
Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): At 7:30 pm on October 25, 2021, in Sangkat Choam Chao 3, Khan Po Sen Chey, at the Choam Chao market, a 2-day-old baby was abandoned in a tuk-tuk by an unidentified woman.
According to the tuk-tuk driver, the unidentified woman asked him for a favor to look after the baby for a moment for her to go shopping. The tuk-tuk driver agreed, but then waited for hours, which concerned and frustrated him, so he reported it to the police.
While the authorities investigating the case, a smartphone shop owner in the market who has observed the incident asked permission from the authorities to legally adopt the child.
According to the birth certificate, the infant's parents were Thai Sokheng (father) and An Sokvy.
The authorities have not confirmed this case. Further information will be updated.

adding additional weirdness to an already very bizarre story.

Not sure showing compassion and kindness towards a new-born baby can be considered weird. Yes, how the baby was abandoned is truly weird but the lady shop owner has offered a home and better life to this poor child. She has taken real action to provide a solution and for that she should be commended not deemed "weird".
I suppose she could have just posted to facebook and sent "thoughts & prayers"... you know how effective that is right?

^Yeah, it is not weird in Cambodia to take in other people's kids.
Very sad that the mother thought that this was the best she could do for her baby, but at least she tried to make sure that it will be cared for.

Hopefully she's able to gain custody of the kid, obviously she's "well off" certainly feel like lil' bong would be in good hands

I'm not sure how it will actually work out but it's great that someone offered to help out so quickly. Cambodians are crazy for babies. It beats getting sent to some local orphanage and maybe spending years in a low stimulation limbo.

Weird. Unidentified woman leaves 2 day old baby in hands of Mr. Tuk Tuk. He can’t identify the woman, but somehow manages to get ahold of the baby’s birth certificate.
It’s very touching that the baby was so quickly adopted.
But still..
How did he get the birth certificate?
Or are there so few babies born in all of Cambodia on any given day that it’s that easy to track down?

That's the strangest part, for me. If she was dumping the baby the mother wouldn't leave the birth cert with it would she? So perhaps something happened to her?

about the mother who left the child. Did she make the move by herself or was she under pressure ? Observe how well the child is dressed.
Also look at what happens in the first weeks a mother has a child . Was she forced ? I think this is the real story and people she try to find out about the real mother also..

Baby abandoned by unidentified woman.
Baby is carrying a birth certificate showing name of both mom and dad?
So how is the woman unidentified, was it not the same woman dropping the kid as the woman on the birth certificate?
The story does appear a bit off, but maybe some details were lost in translation also.
