American MICHAEL BERG (AmCham Board Member) Caught on Video Allegedly Trying to Bribe Police in Cambodia

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

I thought the expat community had moved on from Off the Rails in Phnom Penh. Threatening to beat up a WOMAN files?
I must have missed the part of the video where he says that.
which leaves us with, "He said..." & "She said..."

And as the old saying goes....

"You can say what you want when you're lying"

As CEO’s resident woke lefty I can firmly say get to fuck with that line. That isn’t what #believewomen
is about at all and fuck you for trying to invoke a serious issue as cover for someone who’s clearly got issues.

Considering it's your first post in over two years, which one are you desperate for? A Berg blowie, F&C or both? :jerk:

Seems like most people posting never met the guy.
The number of brand new and non-regular posters in this thread is getting silly. Seems like someone’s pushing this vendetta to where they’re encouraging people from other groups to brigade CEO to keep their character assassination on track.

Agree, it smacks of an organised group or a bunch of odd socks. Ensuring most are menswear to appeal to the chauvinist pigs and sway a few votes. Newbies need to earn credibility and should accept scrutiny. After a year, I've got a long way to go before I'm fully patched (although, I have finished the first draft of my acceptance speech)

Hire good bouncers, never handle an issue inside your service area and always bring it outside. Not time to waste talking. Handle the problem fast, and get back to business.

Some remarks are, indeed, going to far. Having said that, I do not understand why some keep talking about character assassination. The man is caught on tape trying to bribe an officer. There is nothing left to assassinate. He did it to himself. Dont blame the messenger.
In the real world, people who do sign papers would be re-scheduling appointments with Mr. Berg. Given that the latter has plenty of time for running a small food outlet, it might not be a problem.

The small story is going to have some impact for the local business community if the American Chamber does not get its act together and at least tries to assure some compliance. On the up side, it provides a good introduction for companies considering business opportunities in Cambodia. Be careful when shaking hands.

Not many are disputing that part. What’s in doubt is the chain of events leading to that; the story as told smacks of important details being left out.

Indeed. Seems to me we have one side of the story. An edited video presumably designed to suit one party.

Will the other party counter with the other half of the story?

I agree, but shouldn't that be added to the original post to be fair? Who, coming from Google, reads responses on page 10+x?

As it stands now, the news report here is a mere amplification of the lady's Facebook post and video, plus a complete CV incl. portraits of the business owner that make it really easy to find the thread tied to him on Google.
Hardly an unbiased report.
