Re: Vietnam opens to passengers from 72 countries
Vietnam has something like only 20% of the population fully vaccinated so they've got some way to go before opening borders.
Will they cave in to the lure of the tourist $$ like the Thais did? With only 40% of Thais fully vaccinated, smacks of economic desperation I think. They've tossed out the goal of minimising covid deaths for the sake of their economy and citizens financial livelihoods.
In comparison, Cambodia with 77% fully vaccinated is playing it more cautiously.

Misleading nonsense, Vietnam aims to fully open by June 2022. It's been accurately reported in Vietnam too.

I would expect a stampede of Chinese tourists to embark on Cambodian soil, what could go wrong due to the country using the majority of China's vaccines.
Always "hope" but never "expect".

not at all certainly not from India and Pakistan. I guess they would go to Thailand.sigmoid wrote: ↑Sat Oct 23, 2021 3:42 pmHave never heard or seen much evidence of sex pats from South Asia in VN. Possibly not, but De Tham street at the end of Bui Vien had a few bars popular with expats and freelancers, also the girly bars around the end of Pasteur street. Apparently. From what I have been told. And the 'escort' scene in Hanoi is very active around the hotels, but not on the street. I would also think there could be quite a bit of 'sex tourism' around Vung Tau and Nha Trang, given the high population of Aussies and Russians respectively.sigmoid wrote: ↑Sat Oct 23, 2021 3:42 pmHave never heard or seen much evidence of sex pats from South Asia in VN. Nothing like 20 years ago when there were heaps of girlie bars on Hai Ba Trung in HCMC. Sex tourism is certainly there, but not nearly as obvious as in Thailand or even Cambodia. I do believe most of the transactions nowadays take place on Zalo and other social media.hdgh29 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 25, 2021 7:46 amPossibly not, but De Tham street at the end of Bui Vien had a few bars popular with expats and freelancers, also the girly bars around the end of Pasteur street. I've only been to Nha Trang once but it seemed all the Russians there were families or couples on holiday.hdgh29 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 25, 2021 7:46 am

Vung Tau used to have a scene that catered to the offshore oil and gas workers but the bottom fell out of that back in 2016. Most of the Aussies and other nationalities currently there are retirees/pensioners who get married to a single mum from the Mekong delta or pay her a monthly salary to be a live-in girlfriend/cook/maid. I'm not judging them, as it works out quite well for both parties.
However, I don't think anyone specifically travels to Vung Tau to get laid. It's more of a place to go when the end is near and you want to escape from the world, but your budget is a bit low.

I was getting all excited about Aussie opening up with no return quarantines until I read this article
sounds complicated, risky and expensive....seems like travel for just a holiday is still a good 6 months off at least
