Cambodia’s Internet Gateway Causes Silence of News
https://mouab.com/2021/10/20/cambodias- ... e-of-news/
Internet service providers in Cambodia are given until February 2022 to divert all cyber traffic through a regulatory agency, or gateway, known as National Internet Gateway or NIG.
Does this sound a little like China?

For Sokun, who works for Voice of Democracy, one of Cambodia’s remaining independent broadcasters, the regulation had a direct impact on the way it worked.
Oh yes that bastion of independent media that stands alongside RT and Telesur as definitely not a government organ.
Scarier than malaria.

It's always good to know the source of your source. Here's a snippet of information on a major Khmer news outlet:

Guangxi Province, China: Twelve Cambodian journalists returned home on 2 November after a field trip at the invitation of the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Cambodia, co-ordinated by the Chinese news agency, Xinhua news. The twelve journalists were sent by the Ministry of Information of Cambodia to conduct a study tour in China. Among them, on the 12-day visit from October 22- November 2, 2018, were journalists from the news agency Rasmei Kampuchea. [/quote]
Rasmei Kampuchea Co., Ltd.
Rasmei Kampuchea Co., Ltd. operates of Rasmei Kampuchea. It was founded by Pen Samithi, who remained its editor-in-chief until he died in 2015. Before belonging to Say Chhum, it was owned by Theng Bunma, who once was named the “richest and most politically-influential businessman” in Cambodia. The company was registered at the Ministry of Commerce in 2011, six years after its shares were transferred from the business tycoon Theng Bunma to Say Chhum, the president of the Senate and Vice President of Cambodian People’s Party (CPP), through a Prakas of ministry of information in 2005.
Rasmei Kampuchea: Owner
Say Chhum (Khmer: សាយ ឈុំ; born 5 February 1945) is a Cambodian politician who has been the president of the Senate of Cambodia since 2015. He was the first vice president of the Senate until June 2015, when he succeeded Chea Sim upon the latter's death. He served as the Chairman of the Permanent Committee of the Central Committee of the Cambodian People's Party.
He was elected to represent Kampong Speu Province in the National Assembly in 2003.[1] He also served as Second Vice-President of the National Assembly.
As First Vice-President of the Senate, Say Chhum served as acting Senate President when the ailing Chea Sim was absent. Shortly after Chea Sim's death, Say Chhum was unanimously elected as President of the Senate on 9 June 2015 by the 51 senators present.[2]
His son, Say Sam Al, was appointed Minister of the Environment in 2013.

Being trained to look the other way. Why doesn't Cambodia just get it over with and become another Chinese province. The only risk is that western nations and NGOs will pull all their funding. But I'm sure Emperor Xi will help out.
Re: Cambodia’s Internet Gateway Causes Silence of News
Not sure the majority of Cambodians would appreciate that. They're pretty proud and nationalistic people.

The way Cambodian's use the net, as soon as youtube is throttled or banned you'll see protests on the streets. The great firewall worked on brainwashed chinese. Pushing it on a Khmer... well... that might be a challenge even the Emperor could not have foreseen.
We love our pirated Karaoke videos and Google services here. They can try pushing this on the people...
Good luck making it stick. There is already a no-chinese underbelly brewing in this country. Perhaps this might be the straw that breaks the camel's back.
I'm grabbing popcorn in anticipation of the first okna who speak up against it.

A couple of Chinese cities put together outnumber the entire population of Cambodia. Just imagine what will happen when Cambodians are the tiny (30% or less) of the population of Cambodia. Khmer will become Chinese by default.
Sihanoukville is the test bed. Wait until the governor, police, and all other officials are appointed by the central government.
Of course, I hope I’m wrong.
