Re: NEW 30,000 Riel Note Issued
The first note I've ever seen with the boss on it.
Silence, exile, and cunning.
Re: NEW 30,000 Riel Note Issued
Then there's this piece of gold shit, limited to 100, evading capital gains tax with the 30,000 Riel mark:
https://www.apmex.com/product/240389/20 ... -tigers-bu
Silver too, limited to 10,000 both from an undisclosed mint which is likely the People's Bank of China, though there are a handful of others in the "mint toy bullion for incompetent shtholes" category.
And to think!--you can buy them in DOGE! Imagine how thick you'd have to be to do that! (unless of course you're liquidating so to speak but pick another coin!)
P.S. I was in Chinatown Chicago yesterday and noticed an investment firm going by HeungSeng and it got me thinking what the glass eye's real name was!
Then you got Hang Seng Index and "Hang" in general (red/lucky i believe).

Re: NEW 30,000 Riel Note Issued
Why the 30,000 Riel on it? It's 1oz of .999 gold. It's closer to 7million Riel in value.sanjuro wrote: ↑Mon Oct 18, 2021 7:59 pm Then there's this piece of gold shit, limited to 100, evading capital gains tax with the 30,000 Riel mark:

Re: NEW 30,000 Riel Note Issued
It's a common technique to evade taxes, for any country--just slap a number, any number on it. Both values fluctuate--you're right, weight and purity is what matters, along with recognition, as in "the dollar".hburns wrote: ↑Mon Oct 18, 2021 8:48 pmWhy the 30,000 Riel on it? Re: NEW 30,000 Riel Note Issued
It's a "commemorative" coin made by a foreign private company with "Cambodia" written on it. They are not official coins.hburns wrote: ↑Mon Oct 18, 2021 8:48 pmWhy the 30,000 Riel on it? Re: NEW 30,000 Riel Note Issued
I didn't realise commemorative coins came with a different value on them. I thought they were just special coins with images of significance on or that the value of the metals used in the coin were less than the value given to the coin. We had a large £5 'silver' coin that was made of cupro nickel.John Bingham wrote: ↑Mon Oct 18, 2021 9:25 pmIt's a "commemorative" coin made by a foreign private company with "Cambodia" written on it. Re: NEW 30,000 Riel Note Issued
I'm not sure they have anything to do with the Cambodian central bank, mint, currency or anything as far as I can see. It's just a gold coin called "Lost Tigers of Cambodia". It's dated 2022.

More of the same type of weird unofficial coin.
