Bali opens for tourists .................BUT
DENPASAR, Indonesia, Oct 14 (Reuters) - Indonesia's holiday island of Bali reopened to foreign tourists after 18 months of pandemic hiatus on Thursday, but the island is lacking one crucial ingredient: international flights.
https://www.reuters.com/world/asia-paci ... ponsorshipFrom January to June this year, only 35 foreign tourists entered Bali through its airport.
Details about the reopening have been patchy and Indonesia only identified 19 eligible countries late on Wednesday. Those include China, India, Japan, South Korea and several European and Gulf countries.
As well as requiring Bali visitors to be vaccinated against COVID-19, Indonesia has said they must spend their first five days in quarantine, a requirement that rival destinations are phasing out.
Indonesia also requires medical insurance coverage of up to $70,000 for COVID-19 treatment.
In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST

Glad Cambodia is well connected to the rest of the world with eh.....
The problem of re-opening is a problem which exceeds the local situation of visa on arrival and quarantine. It's about airline networks, policies in the land people come from, policies at major airline hubs.... to name a few.

Re: Bali opens for tourists .................BUT
It's all been switched off for a huge amount of time. Anyone expecting an overnight recovery is dreaming.
Airports are simply NOT designed for processing people the way the new rules and regs demand, in the volumes that they did before. Some airports will better manage it, others will be utterly hopeless.
Airline capacity likewise simply won't be so easily ramped up to previous levels without a lot of pain and discomfort. Much of it hidden from the travelling public. There simply are not enough resources.
Routes that haven't been operating for a long while will take time to get going again.
My opinion.
Expect disruption, delays, bottle necks, inconsistency, mindless bureaucracy, inconsistent pricing, over supply, under supply, and mistakes upon mistakes.
From a couple of decades of airline flying, there's many an unreasonable passenger with lofty expectations able to make matters worse, and plenty of disagreeable staff to exacerbate tensions.
I'm slightly optimistic for the future, though.

Should be a sport in the Asian Games.
