and those that come in via sea or land borders once they open?newkidontheblock wrote: ↑Mon Oct 11, 2021 10:06 pm If everything is rolled into the total cost of the ticket, tourists aren’t going to notice any fees, especially the high income tourists that Thailand wants to chase.
What annoys tourists to no end, however, if there is an endless stream of outstretched hands for this and that official fee after arrival.
These are just my opinions.
I enjoyed my visit to Thailand years ago, before the virus changed everything.
there are cities on the thai / malay border that rely on the malays coming over every weekend ( its only 2-3 hours by road form Penang)
if they are charged $15 to enter, they might not come as often an this would kill some places like Betong, Satun, Hat yai
In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST

I'll happily pay $15 if we don't have to take Covid tests to travel to Thailand nor upon arrival!

Re: Thailand's proposed $15 tax on foreign tourists stirs debate
Sometimes its really painful to read the announcements of Thai authorities. Their approach to "reopen" Thailand seems to completely lack any logic and empathy. They are not capable of looking at tourism in Thailand from a tourists perspective. Instead of getting rid of mandatory insurance (on top of the travel insurance that most tourists have anyway), the COE and its sometimes slow and complicated approval process and all the numerous annoying and expensive PCR-tests, they really think it's a good idea to announce this 500 TBH tax. If they were to get rid of all the buerocracy for entry into the country, nobody would complain about this.

Its jist disgusting that we all know who's pockets the new tax will fill...there wont be any return for it.be it only free toilets at bus and train stations for farangs.newkidontheblock wrote: ↑Mon Oct 11, 2021 10:06 pm
