Now with the PCR testing required and taxes, I doubt they will get the Tourists they want. Too much hassle.
Tourists will simply go elsewhere. As much as I like Thailand; it isn't the only option. Actually there are other better ones now...
each year more an more tourists since 2006, ( 2005 was a bust cause of the tsunami)
and
nov 2019
and of course the Chinese are number 1 for arrivalsWith 9.29 million visitors per year, an average of 25,452 visitors per day, Phuket has the highest number of visitors per square mile per day than any other tourist destination in the world, according to a new report released by specialist travel insurance intermediary Columbus Direct.
With 5,090 tourists per square mile, Phuket outpaced in second-placed Palma de Mallorca, which recorded 2,918 visitors per square mile each day, said the report.
Personally dont expect top see those number till high season 2025 if ever

Well, it was the case whilst I was there a few years back. Maybe it's recovered a bit since.phuketrichard wrote: ↑Tue Oct 26, 2021 7:20 pmu jest right?snookieboi wrote: ↑Tue Oct 26, 2021 2:48 pm Tourism was going down before the pandemic hit. Especially in Phuket.

Let's see how things pan out... I'm disappointed about these extra taxes.

Plenty of options. Its more than that tax, it's the thinking behind it. And of course daft need for 2 covid tests even if you are double vaccinated. They are making it expensive for tourist's.Why not cheaper lateral flow?jaynewcastle wrote: ↑Wed Nov 03, 2021 3:44 am Where do you think you will go instead ?, to save the extra 500bt (£11) ?
Luckily there are other good even better for some options

Personally, I cannot really think of a country in the region that offers better value for money than Thailand. I'd happily pay that measly fee right now if I could go to LOS.

Agree 100%, best value for ur bucks with minimal hassle and get to see it without the 39 million other tourists.

Yep, despite all my earlier protestations about not travelling until restrictions have all been lifted, after nearly 2 years in the UK and the start of another UK winter, my flight is now booked for several weeks in early Jan 2022
