Malaysia Airlines is back

Do you have a Cambodian trip report you want to share? Post it here, and feel free to link to your blog if it's a travel blog for Cambodia, South East Asia, or anywhere really. You can ask and answer questions about travel advice in Cambodia or just share your pictures and videos with us. Most people who live in or visit Cambodia have also checked out nearby countries like Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, Myanmar, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines, and you can get to most of these countries by traveling overland, so put any travel plans, reviews or questions here. Discussions about dirt bike trails in here as well.

Not sure if the post it on their website (which you already posted the link to), but they do post it on their Farcebook page https://www.facebook.com/cambodia.airports

Unfortunately they don't usually post it in advance, normally within the first week of the month though, still waiting for October's schedule.

Thanks, I had anticipated the outcome and will go through miserable Singapore soon. Just 2-3hrs so it will be bearable. Let's see what the anticipated opening will bring.

It might be good idea to post the monthly schedules in a dedicated thread so that it wont be buried here. People might find this difficult to come by piece of info very helpful.

thanks again

Just browsing AirAsia's site and they have twice weekly scheduled flights between PP and KL (Fridays/Sundays) commencing Friday 5 November. Fare starts at $81.50 / $62.75 ($144.25 return). You must be double vaxxed.

Do not book just yet. They are speculative flights only. As it stands the ban on commercial passenger flights between Cambodia and Malaysia remains in effect.

Oh absolutely yes. Was just noticed as an interesting development. As I've said in other threads though I suspect Cambodia is ready to move forward soon. Let's see what they have to say at the end of next week.

What next after ban on flight from Malaysia, Indonesia and Philippines lifted?

Cambodia’s ban on flights originating from Malaysia, Indonesia and Philippines which were imposed on July 25, 2020 and August 11 was lifted Saturday after intervention from Prime Minister HE.

Khmer Times has reliably learned that at least one of the three airlines which used to fly regular flights to Cambodia pre COVID-19, is scrambling to work out the administrative and aircraft scheduling issues to take advantage of the lifting of the ban.

Malaysia Airlines is reportedly likely to be the first to mount flights. However, the frequency of the flights and the commencement date is not known as of Saturday and is expected to be made known in the coming days or week.

With the lifting of the ban, Malaysians can now fly directly to Malaysia instead of flying through Singapore to Kuala Lumpur and either stay a night at the airport hotel in Singapore or put up with at least four hours in transit time at Changi Airport, Singapore.

It is not immediately known whether Philippines Airlines will resume flights anytime soon but there are efforts to get flights from Cambodia to Indonesia, mounted by a Cambodian registered airline.

Malaysia and Cambodia have similarities in that both countries require seven days quarantine either at home or hotel for normal travelers (Cambodia).

It is time for ASEAN to get together and have a standardized format for arrivals as some countries, like Singapore, do not allow foreign passport holders to enter Singapore unless with special permission.

Cambodia could also emulate the Thai model of no quarantine for fully vaccinated inbound travellers though other requirements as valid visa, insurance must be maintained and to go a step further, implementation of an open source track system of arrivals.

Long stay expatriates and businessmen or foreign employees working in Cambodia with full legal documents such as work permits, tax payer etc, must be given either the same privilege as a visiting businessman with a three day quarantine or better still, no quarantine at all.

Other entry requirements such as visa’s must also be made clear other than E Visa for tourists.

For tourism, flights and travelers, there must be flights and for flights to happen, there must be demand and for demand to take place, there must be minimal hassle involved in entering the country.

Cambodia should prove to the world that it is indeed open and proud of its high vaccination rate and achievement of herd immunity.

As Cambodia prepares to fully reopen all sectors in the coming days or week, quarantine requirements should also be looked at and no additional charges such as fee by civil aviation etc like Thailand should be imposed.

Cambodia has lifted the temporary flights ban from Malaysia, Philippines and Indonesia.

The lifting is effective from 23rd of October and the ban lasted almost 15 months.

Prime Minister HE had earlier in the week called for a review on the temporary ban as several Asean countries had relaxed or lifted quarantine requirements to kick start the economy and travel and hospitality industry.

Cambodia had also announced the resumption of E Visa applications for tourism.

Now, what is needed is for Asean countries open their borders for each other’s nationals to enter and help the tourisim industry and reunite families.

So, flights on Monday? Well done HE!

Fill her up, pump up the tyres, check the oil and get this baby in the air. Chocks away!!

Apparently, it is slightly more complex than that.
