Crooked Police Chief Arrested for Corruption in Kandal
Cambodia News, (Kandal province): Kandal Provincial Police Commissioner, Major General Chhoeun Socheat, is currently investigating allegations that Mr. Huot Seiha, Samrong Thom police chief, extorted a total of US$ 3,500 from three young men, in exchange for their release following their arrest on drug charges.
According to the staff of the Kandal Provincial Police, Colonel Huot Seiha, Chief of the Samrong Thom Administrative Police Station of the Kien Svay District Police Inspectorate, has been caught in the act, and is therefore being interrogated, and will be disciplined.
It is alleged that there are many scandals in connection with Mr. Huot Seiha, the chief of Samrong Thom police station, all of which involve corruption and extortion.
The public is now waiting to see what will be the fate of Mr. Huot Seiha, Chief of Samrong Thom Police Post, who is accused of grave misconduct and corruption on July 30, 2021 in Prek Takeo village, Samrong Thom commune, Kien Svay district, Kandal province, when it is alleged that he arrested three youths for drugs, and then demanded US$3,500 in exchange for their release.
After receiving the above information, Major General Chhoeun Socheat, Kandal Provincial Police Commissioner, assigned the staff office to investigate the case, and a report will be sent for inspection at the national level.

If they started arresting people working for the 'competent authorities' for just this kind of money no 'competent authority member' would be safe anymore.

Can’t believe people say stuff like this, especially if they’re in country and have a Cambodian wife and children. Utterly disrespectful.
I know a guy who regularly says they (KR) didn’t kill enough of them, and he’s in the position above.

I’d bet that every poster who’s ever lived in Cambodia has been guilty of joining in the whole corruption circus at some point. It’s inevitable.

Of course it is. I was involved in a road traffic violation, the cop gave me a choice: $25 fine with official receipt, or $10 no receipt. I won't say which I chose - but what would you choose in that situation?
