Here Is A Small Fact;- You are going to die.

If you have something so weird, strange or off-topic to post and think it doesn't belong in any other forum; you're probably right. Please put all your gormless, half-baked, inane, glaikit ideas in here. This might also be a place where we throw threads that appear elsewhere that don't belong ANYWHERE end up, instead of having to flush them. FORUM RULES STILL APPLY.

While you're off Googling that, I'll move us along a little... the Hebrew word לֹא תִּרְצָח as used in the 10 Commandments is most closely translated in English as 'murder', and when used in context means 'do not kill anyone without reason/good cause.'

Move along, potty. I don't participate in conversations in which I am the only one that replies like an adult.

Leave the trolling to dagenham and Francis, you look childish by comparison.

Oh, by the way, the fifth commandment refers to honouring your parents...
 Not as easy as it sounds.

OT: we are all going to die - no exceptions. So you can make plans or not think about it; it will happen. Seems to me that living is a lot more work.

Potty - dying has nothing to do with religion - it is common to all living things - even aardvarks.Only FB pages never die.
Dying is part of life, but probably the least interesting bit. It just means that your part is finished, and it's time to get off the stage.

Where does it say that, specifically?
I'm with Potty on this one.

One of the 10 commandments, valid in both the Old and New testaments, is "Thou shall not kill."

Plain and simple.

Committing suicide or helping someone kill themselves is clearly breaking one of the most direct orders that your biblical God gave you.

According to your book, God gave you life, and it's not your call to decide to end it.

In my opinion, to call oneself a Christian you have to believe in all of it, not just cherry pick here and there with parts that YOU agree with.

Again, it reminds me of a person that told me, "I'm a vegetarian, but I eat beef."
"Life is too important to take seriously."

"Life does not cease to be funny when people die any more than it ceases to be serious when people laugh."

Lol, I was an actual vegetarian growing up (raised that way) and used to laugh so hard at the "I'm a vegetarian, but... " crowd. I still don't eat a lot of meat (as a matter of habit) but refer to myself as an omnivore because occasionally I do. Words have meaning.

Me too.

I remember a kid teasing us one time saying, "Do you get hungry when you pass a McDonald's?"

And one of us replied, "Do you get hungry when you pass a roadkill?"

This was my understanding as well.

As discussed elsewhere the proper translation of the original Hebrew statement is "do not murder" - which in context is 'do not kill without just cause'. This is not my convenient understanding, this is current theology and has been since scholars disagreed with many of the points of translation in King James' version.

Some arm chair atheists hang their hat on this single issue and refuse to hear the corrected alternative because they then like to write God and the Bible off with "God said don't kill, yet he killed this person or that race... so he's a hypocrite, clearly he doesn't exist" which is a pretty juvenile logic chain when the premise is completely flawed.

Always interested to hear what I should/should not believe according to people who don't share my faith and have not actually read/understood the book.

I hope Jess has bacon on the menu tonight.
