My trip to Sihanoukville
My trip to Sihanoukville
I came here planning to spend a week while my GF enjoyed some family time.
First night we both got the shits.
3rd morning we changed hotels to be nearer family.
We were told after abt 45 mins we could only stay 1 night because barang spread covid.
The construction is at an absolute halt and over half the buildings are abandoned.
Existing casinos are going to have a $200M minimum capital requirement phased in over the next 3 years.
This place is fucking doomed now, despite the few posters here trying to talk it up to bolster their disastrous investments.
Nothing can turn it around.
I don't intend to argue the points above on this thread.
Anyone wanting to verify it can just do a title search for sihanoukville on ceo and it becomes very clear what the truth is.

What are the main beaches like there now?
Re: My trip to Sihanoukville
Don't know- too sick to go
Re: My trip to Sihanoukville
I do wonder how there going to deal with all these half built projects considering they will become a safety risk if being left for to long... my guess is they wont, some will collapse and people will die.

Re: My trip to Sihanoukville
Is it just the fallout from covid / tourism being buggered etc or are there other factors at play as well?

1 night long enough to spread the wuflu..if they were serious about it, they wouldn't have let you stay at all.3rd morning we changed hotels to be nearer family.

Do Chinese guests fall under the definition of 'barang' at their hotel?
Re: My trip to Sihanoukville
There are zero Chinese tourists as far as I can tell. The hotel owner was fine with accepting us as guests........ then his wife got home LOL.
Still some Chinese people working at casinos.
Khmers have no work and are mostly surviving off the covid relief payments.
It is not only the covid's negative effect on tourism causing this. The crackdown on illegal casinos has dried up the investment capital.
This is something the China government wants to achieve to stem the enormous outflows of dirty money.

Come on now, share some pictures. What hotel said you cannot stay? So other barangs know to avoid them.nemo wrote: ↑Mon Sep 27, 2021 1:34 pm I came here planning to spend a week while my GF enjoyed some family time.

Oh yes, the predictable 50 cent army "show us the proof" challenge.
Plenty of photos are posted online, and here on ceo.
As stated above:
I feel pity for those who wasted their investment and now think they can save something by false claims.
Anyone slightly interested can see the truth in 5 minutes.
I am not about to slander a Khmer business by publishing their name. They have the right to accept or reject clients and no explanation is required.

Re: My trip to Sihanoukville
There are a few diamonds in the rough with respect to hotels and restaurants etc.
In general when going to the beach go as far away from Sihanoukville south along the new paved path.
On occasion you'll find a spot groomed daily.
COVID lockdowns hit it hard, but hey, the roads are nicer now.
