US has food stamps, CHIP, section 8 housing, free cell phones, etc. Then there’s always the local churches giving a helping hand. And the shelters as well.truffledog wrote:what is the worse nightmare? homeless in Cambodia or the US?
What social net does Cambodia have? Without family nearby, there is none.

Well, for Cambodians at least, they can commit any number of crimes and get off without as much as a slap on the hand, but it may be difficult to avoid the compulsory 'We police are serious about crime, so best not try' photo as they stand next to police.newkidontheblock wrote: ↑Sun Sep 26, 2021 1:58 amUS has food stamps, CHIP, section 8 housing, free cell phones, etc. Then there’s always the local churches giving a helping hand. Not if you have a US PayPal account linked to a PayPal cash card or debit card. That MasterCard debit card can be extremely useful for Americans as they are the only ones qualified to get that card.John Bingham wrote: ↑Sat Sep 25, 2021 11:06 pm Besides all the retarded shit, isn't Paypal pretty much useless here?

There but for the grace of god etc etc. Must be tough to have mates overseas, when you are homeless and starving the best they can come up with is $15. Can't send money? One day they will invent Western Union to solve that problem.

So strange the attachment some people have to toilet paper.

Having survived in this 'closed down country' ever since the pandemic started without help from outside makes me feel like a real Seal Survivor after reading this thread.

I think there must be some other way too because my Khmer teacher takes PayPal and they’re not American.duran wrote: ↑Sun Sep 26, 2021 5:50 amNot if you have a US PayPal account linked to a PayPal cash card or debit card. Also who sets up as an expat PI without having some way to get paid other than cash? Seems like if I were going to run a business aimed at foreigners I’d be set up to take Visa/MasterCard.
