Sounds fancy, just can't imagine paying more than 200 for a phone, especially since most low model phones do the exact same as the more expensive ones, give or take less ram and battery life

Hardly. Unless you only call & send messages.

The iPhone was revolutionary when it came out. At this stage I don't really see the big deal. There are loads of other similar products that do the job just fine.
Silence, exile, and cunning.

Have you looked at the market lately? A Nokia 1.4 is under $100 and has basically everything. It even has a headphone jack…

Well, yes it has many things and they are not bad. But saying low model phones do all the same / have same things what expensive models have is not true. And and how fast does the budget phones works? What is the quality of the cameras? Yeah, not even close to +$600 phones. And when you consider the high end phones have lidar technology, foldable screens etc now days.

That’s a pretty major goalpost shift from “calls and send messages only” to “what, no LIDAR?”

I’m not upgrading from the XS Max unless they add back fingerprint login, which seems like may be next year.

I don’t care about the camera capabilities. Large screen, fast response time, ease of use, battery life are much more important.

Sure the iPhone works but android is far superior to ios.

Also
Apple is planning to scan U.S. iPhones for images of child sexual abuse, drawing applause from child protection groups but raising concern among some security researchers that the system could be misused by governments looking to surveil their citizens

https://abcnews.go.com/Technology/wireS ... e-79297400

The only way to scan for those images is to scan everything on your phone

I guess when you don't value your privacy go with Apple Image

Or get a Google pixel and install GrapheneOS
GrapheneOS is a privacy and security focused mobile OS with Android app compatibility developed as a non-profit open source project. It's focused on the research and development of privacy and security technology including substantial improvements to sandboxing, exploit mitigations and the permission model.
