Charcoal Maker Killed by Collapsing Termite Mountain
Cambodia News (Banteay Mean Chey Province): At 2:10 pm on September 7, in Takung village, Nam Tao commune, Phnom Srok district, a 57-year-old man named Chhun Chheang was crushed to death by a 3 meter high termites' nest, while he was extracting the dirt from the mound to seal his earth oven to make charcoal.
The victim was found by his wife who called for help, but it was too late to save him. The police examined the body which was given to the family for the funeral.

Poor working bloke, poor wife and family. I hope they have a strong larger family to look after them.
Making bricks for a few measly reils each - what a hard-scrabble way to make living.
Others go looking for gold in them thar termite hills.
Looking for gold traces in those mounds is one of the main methods of modern gold prospecting Cambodia. By the pro's.

Absolutely right brother .... who did this guy think he is using natural techniques used for millennia that work alongside nature to provide for his family .... It’s about time termites got their rightful protection laws to save them from this unwarranted human abuse and exploitation .....
