Drug Addict Suicides After Mom Denies Him 3,000 Riels
Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): On the afternoon of September 2, 2021, in Phnom Penh Thmey village, Khan Sen Sok, Puth Heng, a 25-year-old man, who was a drug addict, slit his throat in his room after his mother refused to give him 3,000 Riels (about US 75c). He died immediately at the scene.
The police autopsy has confirmed that the deceased committed suicide by slitting his throat, and the body was given back to the family for the funeral.

Off topic a bit, but I noticed the word suicide being used as a verb in the title. Is that a new thing? I've always heard it as a verb phrase, i.e. "to commit suicide."

I have also infrequently seen/heard "suicide" used as a verb in the west. I don't think it is acceptable usage, more likely slang unfortunately making its way into common usage...
