Well it's that time of the year again and after the heavy rains last night, there was some flooding..

That's the only reason not to live in boeung tompun. Happens every year.

That crossroads is always first to flood. Mind you, it would help if whoever repairs the drain covers in the middle of the road above didn't just concrete them all over without replacing the drainage holes in them. Let's hope the pumping station doesn't fail again like it did last year.

You can predict floods like this by just checking the name of the area.
Boeng means lake
Oh means stream
Since most lakes and streams have been filled up those areas don't have the natural water flow / storage anymore and are very sensitive to flooding.

Boueng Tumpun 1 is far to the west of Wat Sam San Kosal etc and I've never seen a flood there.

Nope, I've lived in that neighborhood for about 8 years and I haven't seen any floods in a long time. There was a stretch about a kilometer south that used to flood a bit but not since they fixed up the road.
