Cambodia News, (Banteay Meanchey Province): According to Major General Sithi Loh, Banteay Meanchey Provincial Police Commissioner, on August 25, 2021, 7 male and female suspects were arrested, 5 Chinese nationals, 1 Vietnamese woman, and 1 Cambodian man, for involvement in drug trafficking.

The Anti-Drug Department (A10) cooperated with the Banteay Meanchey Provincial and the Poipet City Anti-Drug Offices to arrest the following suspects in Poipet City:

1-Name: Chhoy Bunvuth, Male, 65 years old, Cambodian
2-Name: ZHANG ZHIQIANG, Male, 32 years old, Chinese, passport
3-Name: FU XINMING, male, 47 years old, Chinese national,passport
4-Name: NGUYEN THI TUYET TRINH, female, Vietnamese nationality, passport
5-Name: YU LANG, Male, 27 years old, Chinese, passport
6-Name: WU BING BING, Male, 23 years old, Chinese, No passport
7-Name: TU MINGFZANG, Male, 24 years old, Chinese, No passport.
Police seized a product suspected to be ketamine.

After initial interrogation, our forces continued to inspect Room 806, 8th floor in O'Meas Hotel, Palilei 1 Village, Poipet City, and arrested one suspect named HU XIAOHUI, a 23-year-old Chinese woman. Evidence seized included: 35 yaba tablets, 1 scales, 2 pistols.After preliminary interrogation, all suspects were taken to be tested for Covid-19 disease at the hospital, and all were negative.

Four of the suspects: 1-Chhoy Bunvuth, male, 2-HU.XINMING, male 3-HU. XIAOHUI, female, 4- ZHANG.ZHIQIANG, male, along with all confiscated materials, were taken by the Anti-Drug Department (10) to continue the procedure at the Anti-Drug Department in Phnom Penh.
The other suspects were maintained in custody for interrogation at Banteay Meanchey Provincial Anti-Drug Office.

Cambodia News, Phnom Penh/Poipet: On August 19, 2021 at 14:30, the specialized force of the Anti-Drug Department (A10) Led by Lt. Gen. Sary Bot Satya and Lt. Col. Yim Sen Udom, Deputy Director of the Department, in collaboration with Customs and Excise Cargo of Phnom Penh International Airport, inspected some packages sent from Johannesburg, South Africa to Cambodia via DHL. The packages contained KETAMINE concealed in 60 white plastic tubes marked ALOE GEL.

Separately, on August 25, 2021, the specialized force of the Department of Anti-Drug Crimes continued the investigation with a raid on a house in Poipet City, Banteay Meanchey Province.

In the above operation, the police arrested 4 suspects:
1-ZHANG ZHI QIANG, male, 32 years old, Chinese,
2-Name: Chhoy Bunvuth, Male, 65 years old, Cambodian,
3-Name: FU XIN MING, Male, Age: 47 years old, Chinese,
4-Name: HU XIAO HUI, Female, 23 years old, Chinese,

The suspects will appear before the Phnom Penh Municipal Court.

UPDATE: 10 Years Prison

Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): On the morning of May 25, 2022, the First Instant Court of Phnom Penh sentenced ZHANG ZHIQIANG, a 32-year-old Chinese man from Jiangxi, to 10 years in prison for his part in the smuggling of around 5kgs of Ketamine into Cambodia.

The smuggled Ketamine, which was found by customs officers at 2:30 pm on August 19, 2021, had been sent through DHL from Johannesburg, South Africa, to Phnom Penh.
The 5.13kgs of Ketamine were hidden in 60 Aloe Gel bottles that weighed 10kgs in total.
