Chicken Slaughterhouse Stinks Out the Neighbors

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

Chicken Slaughterhouse Stinks Out the Neighbors

Post by CEOCambodiaNews »

Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): According to local villagers, a small chicken slaughterhouse owned by Sim Sok has been expanded and created a lot of noise, and sacks of chicken wastes with foul smells are left in front of their premises like normal household garbage. This has angered and frustrated many neighbors, and especially when the garbage truck delayed the garbage collection, the smell from the rotten chicken waste becomes unbearable.

Previously, the villagers complained to the authorities, but there was nothing being done to solve the health hazards. After this recent complaint, the head of Sangkat Choam Chao 2, Va Sarong, claimed that an investigation would be done on August 19, 2021.

Animal-stink related,

In my own country, when i happen to find myself in a not-welcoming village, you know the kind, every country has a few here and there, where people look at you the weird way, with reluctant people serving in shops, and a shitty unfriendly general atmosphere ...
Well i go have a drink in the local pub, and ask if there is a room to rent, and of course the answer is a firm "no".

I then say "ok, well i'll be back anyway in a few months when the pigfarm (or anything else stinky) starts the business, so maybe until then you'll hear about a room".
Locals drinkers begin to ask more detailed answers about where and who and when, but i just leave saying "well i heard the deal is signed, maybe you should talk your representatives".

Shitstorm garanteed for 2 weeks at least, worse if a pig farm is coincidentally really underway.

Another smelly chicken slaughterhouse has been shut down by the authorities in Phnom Penh:

Image
Cambodia News, (Phnom Penh): People living in Toul Manan village, Russey Keo, Phnom Penh, are happy and relieved that Mr. Ek Kundoeun, Governor of Khan Russey Keo, has at last taken measures to close down the location of a chicken slaughterhouse in the village.

The local people say that they have been appealing for years for the authorities to shut down this smelly and unhygenic business which is close to their houses. They say that the owner created bad smells and noise with trucks coming and going, loading up the chickens all day and all night. The air was fowl and they could not open their windows.
